If you have a stock open differential, or a drop-in locker in a stock carrier, or a limited-slip differential, or even an ARB, all you'll need to do is remove the existing ring and pinion gear and reinstall the new ring and pinion gear.

This will require that the pinion gear be reset for depth, that the carrier bearings be re-shimmed for tooth engagement, and that you use a new crush spacer or alignment barrel... so you'll need to have a qualified tech set it up for you, but anyone with experience setting up ring and pinion gears should be able to do this, as well.

Thank you for the confirmation Randii and Steve. Just wanted to make sure before I spent $200 to undo my $650 investment. As for the waiting game, that seems to be something we Isuzu owners should be good at. Heck Im still waiting for my Calmini bumper.

Can you say 89 Turbo Trooper? Figure this one will be more mild. Want a lock right in the rear and ARB up front. 33' Tires and 3' lift. My new daily driver is getting a new head at the moment. This will be my next project after Moab. Should pick up the Troop in a few weeks.

Here, this should help...

All Isuzus will use part# TL10B-513 gears for the front (10 bolt applications).
$210.00
The part# TL44-513 gears are for the rear of 93-97 Rodeo/Passport and all 2nd gen Rodeos/Pasports/Amigo (Dana 44 applications).
$215.00
The part# TL12B-513 gears are for the rear of all 1st gen 4wd Amigos, 4wd Pups, 1st and 2nd gen Troopers (Isuzu 12 bolt applications).
$215.00

As it has been discussed above, you must keep front and rear ratios matching... so you will need both front and rear gearsets before installation.

Sounds like 5.13 gears would be perfect for your new Trooper Curtis!

I hope this deal goes through guys. I can not participate this time in the deal, but I will cheer y'all on.

The job loss, combined with the switch from 4.10 ---> 4.77 R&P, kinda negate reasoning to go with the 5.13s.

By '89, the Troops had a 12 bolt in rear, for which an ARB is the only locker. Has the axle been swapped? Or are you planning on doing so? (please say no)

Well, Matt, if'n you would quit taking all my money, I'd send the deposit for the 10 and 12 bolt today (gunna need the 5.13's with those fat-assed tires you're sending me!).

Seriously though, is 20 sets of each the MAX they are going to run? Or will they take orders above and beyond 20? Fundage is a bit low right now and was planning on dumping $$$ into other areas of the Trooper next week. I guess that could wait though. What's the deal?

Side note: Finally upped my exhaust to 2.5" today and installed the hi-flo cat and Dynomax muffler...sumbitch is sweet and smooth as silk! I R happy!
