I'm sure glad I live out west. Who would want all those black dots all over the landscape? And, Eric, the answer is "No." I do not want to climb the dry Niagra Falls, and I do not want to go submarining. But what's up with that Suburban, anyway? It looked like it was just sitting there, but the water wasn't even close to where the air intake would be, so it shouldn't just be sitting there. Chevy drivers--Ha!
Sounds like DGardn and RDSuave need to get together for caravaning, and everyone else is coming in solo. I have the directional stakes all painted white, and I hope I have enough. Don't forget bug repellent, just in case. I'm packing the infamous chain saw, and we should be able to find firewood. Last time Lloyd and I just pulled the trees down with the Raider first; wish I had pics. And for your amusement, I have once again assembled the world's most disgusting line-up of barely palatable food known to grocers the world over. If you want good eats--bring 'em. I just wish I could leave now, as I have completely lost interest in going to work tomorrow!

Dgardn and I are going to meet at about 1:30 (tentativly) and drive on out. I have no idea how far it is or where we are going. So, I will get there when I get there.

RD, you're looking at about three hours of driving, total. You are headed to the middle of nowhere, and in this case, that is southeast of the Phoenix area. The way I plan on going is to head east out US 60 for about an hour to Superior, then turn south for about an hour to Mammoth, then about another hour off-road east to the camp site. All times approximate; your experience may vary. Check some of the links DGardn has posted for more info. It almost looks like there's too much to see for the time we have. Oh, I almost forgot, does anyone have one of those jump start sealed battery things? I have some cigarette lighter spotlights that would work well in mines! And I have one for Rich as a gift for finally getting dirt on his tires and joining us.

Monte3, I forgot to mention it, there's a space station overflight Friday evening, around eight-ish, as I recall. I'll bring the details, but we should be able to see it clearly.

Looks like I'll be arriving a bit later Friday - a buddy had some brake problems on his Cherokee so instead of packing yesterday, I spent 6 hours doing a thorough rear brake system rebuild. I've never worked on brakes so chewed up and rusted! Would have been a 2 hour job except everything was stuck, rusted, broken, and filthy. The drivers' side self adjuster barrel was a lump of rust that I crushed neatly in my hand The real trouble was that this friend is unemployed so we had to work within a *really* tight budget, while not cutting corners since brakes are not something to half-ass fix!
A lot of time was spent trying to carefully disassemble, clean, and reuse whatever was possible rather than destroy-while-removing-and-replace-with-new like I usually do when repairing badly rusted or worn-beyond-useable parts.
Anyhow, that means I pack today after work. I may try to duck out a little early if the boss goes home early before me ![[Big Grin]](images/icons/grin.gif) [ April 11, 2003, 01:20 PM: Message edited by: Eric D ]

... uhh... must not have been a montero driver that wrote that book! We'll estimate 15 minutes for that 2 rated trail
