Sorry, i am spacing out these days. I have a good compressor identical to the one you have pictured. The compressor spins freely. It makes the proper "pumping" noise. I do not know what the condition of the clutch is, but as I recall this came off a running rig that had a bad knock. I have a diesel unit with AC here, two actually, and the mounting looks to be a bit different for the newer type brackets from the 2.5 TD engines. Oh, BTW, i just took my entire pile of A/C pumps out of the box and lined them all up. I set them by the front of my 1990 RHD Pajero, and started comparing. There are so many types, inlets, outlets, clutch depths, single and dual pulleys, bracket types, blah blah blah. My 90 Paj uses the dodge type, but the 1992 Delica type is the aforementioned square type. Apparently they switched to the r134 type compressor in Japan in 92. Anyway, fun stuff, esoteric information, and my shelf is clean. I am gonna compare the stash to one more rig to see if I actually have any worth keeping. How did I amass such a collection??!?!

I'm assuming mine is bad, I can't turn the pulley when I apply 12v. It will spin free with no power to it.

Here is the run down.
83-85 Mitsubishi pickups ALL ENGINES used a square Mitsubishi heavy industries compressor. If the compressor is internally locked up....FORGET IT. Guy have to make their own gaskets to reseal them. If they turn they are generally good. They never had a low cutoff on these so they got junked if they ran out of oil/freon. Nothing else will fit the bracket either.
2.0 and 2.3 diesel are interchangable. 2.6 really doesnt work out as a swap.
Now if you have a 83-85 RAM 50 from dodge than it uses a Sanden compressor availble at rockauto.com
For whatever reason the dodge trucks all had a different a/c system under the hood. Which is good because the compressor is available. Just look for it.
I collect the square ones when I find them and the tensioners etc. Pick a part is great for that! I pass the locked ones. NO INTERNAL PARTS ANYWHERE for the square ones! There is a place in Van nuys ca that will fix the square ones, but only if they spin. It's called compressor international.
