A few weeks ago after a long trip, my truck wouldn't idle. It would just die at a stop. Removed the AFM and thoroughly tested. All tests passed. Turned out idle screw, runs normal. 3 days later, same thing. Turned out the screw again a few turns, runs fine. Now today, same thing. Gonna dig into this weekend, before the idle screw comes all the way out. I know my air-tube is leak free, so does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Might check the TPS idle setting: - http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml#Troubleshooting
If that IDL-E2 contact is not closing, the idle can be off. Might be yours is right on the edge. Also, maybe the o-ring on the idle adjustment screw is shot and letting the screw move on its own.

I think we have a winner. After work yesterday, I adjusted it out to get it to idle properly again. This time I taped the screw to keep it in place. Working great. I'll check the o-ring this weekend. I'd suppose 27 years of hot-cold cycles on a small piece of rubber under the hood has got to give eventually.
