Latest finding. I was about to order a rebuild kit for the fuel pump today, but figured I would do one more test. I took a spare piece of fuel hose, hooked it strait to the fuel fitting on the engine, put the other end into a Gatorade bottle filled with fuel. Started it up, rough at first then smoothed out. No alarm. Sucked fuel like a drunken sailor....So looks like problem is an air leak on the boat side...

Now that I have verified the fuel pump has vacuum...another question. I know these two strokes consume a lot of fuel, but just idling in the driveway in the course of about 10 minutes sucked up 2 quarts of fuel. I know these motors are thirsty but is that the norm? wow! Fuel pump definately not bad..Maybe I'm just out of gas..Put in approx 10 Gal in each tank thinking that would be good to go for the day on small lake...Fuel gauge works but with 10 Gal still barely above "e"

Put more fuel in one tank and see if the problem goes away. If it does switch to the other tank and see if the problem returns. If it does you now what the fix is.

How big are your tanks? I would think 10 gallons should be enough.

Some questions for you.

Did you replace all fuel lines? Have you tried eliminating the selector valve? Is the fuel line good after the hand primer bulb/ball?

The problem as you stated is lack of fuel. If the tank has enough fuel it's got to be the hoses or the selector valve or the primer bulb.

Another thought, on the pickup tube in the tank there are filters/screens on the ends. Might be hard to see them though, unless they are removable. Sometime they are screw ins.

Just making noise here Justice, but you leading the way we/all of us, will find the problem.

Grasscat,

Have not changed out all the lines yet, it's in the plans but I just want to isolate the problem first. The tanks are under the bench seat and I'll have to remove some screws and stuff to get it out and expose the tanks. I suppose I'll do that and see if I can get the intake out and clean the screens if it has them. Ive pulled the bottom of the seat out but the fuel lines connect at the back looks like I'll have to pull the back rest to get at them. Capacity is 18 Gal ea. I think I'll start with the first line to include the bulb from engine back to the the fuel water separator that is in the batt compatment. That way I can reposition the bulb to work better. I think I''ll install clear screen filter in line here as well so I can watch for bubbles passing through. Next test would be to bypass the fuel water separator, then the selector valve, then check tanks...Once I have a full day to troubleshoot, I should be able to fix it.

First Fish from boat..Its been tough out here with the hot weather, my deep water game needs improvement. A fish finder would be nice to help find structure deep.

Fished a small tournament yesterday on the Neuse River boat will do 55 MPH easy. It was a tough day with the winner only weighing in one fish...river sure looked like it would produce..glad I was not the only one skunked..had one blow up on my top water frog right at the boat and that was all the action I had all day.

That's a nice catch Justice. I'm sure the Bass have gotten the bad news (new fisherman) and are very nervous.

If you want have a good time with the wife and young one, take them crappy fishing at night using red bobbers and minnows. It's allot of fun.

Man, things sure are green where you are.

Nice catch. I am getting excited and looking forward to bluegill/crappie and perch fishing in Idaho in a couple of weeks.

Mike, remember that they get more rain in one week than you see in a year! I am in Clovis for the me t few days and it is really dry and hot!

We have heard about a couple boat projects are progressing. How is your antique trailer project progressing?

I am now going to go find an ice machine to crawl into.....
