bellhousing issues - 3.5 to Gen 1 swap
      #1260483 - 03/04/12 10:47 AM

Been looking for 5 months now in the reasonably local yards for a V-6 auto to get the bellhousing so I can mate up the 3.5 to my auto trans. Not having any luck except for 5 Manual tarns vehicles. Great, but that is not helping. I have the complete 94 SR, any chance the bellhousing will possibly work? I'm a pretty patient guy, but I want to drive the MudRaider again.

I thought the V6s all had the same bell housing.

What years are the MTs in your yards- any Gen IIs?

what tranny are you trying to put on the 3.5 dohc?

On a side note, are you interested in bringing home my '95? Blown motor, the tranny ran great. Full truck - the radio.

I didn't really pay attention to them. What are you looking for? You getting back down here any time soon? well, not too soon, still have a couple months of work to do to get the MudRaider going again.

I'll be running the KM148. The AZ guys have been using it and it has been fine. Axles, not so much.

How big a rush on the 95? and $$$ I really need a 4 door, but too many projects and not enough $$$$ with the GF in school full time. It's quite a balancing act playing and paying.

The v6 trannys changed I believe in 94. You need to find a montero between 89 and 93 for the km148. I have ran my km148 with the 3.5 and haven't had a problem. If you are only in need of a v6 bell housing, I'm sure I can scrounge one up for you. I'm trying to remember now, is this a gen 1 4cyl truck your swapping the 3.5 into? Also, If you have any spare funds and you have a non lock up tranny, you may want to consider getting a lock up tranny. I'm gonna do this eventually.

yes, it is a 4 cylinder truck that I'm swapping it into. Why? I have the frame mounts out, what a PITA with a sawzall, grinder and cutting discs. Dang I need a torch. Dude, If I could find a lock-up transmission I would. I swear when I was scrounging before this V-6 came along, there was a bunch of auto's in the yards, thanks to the cash-for-clunkers debacle. Now I can get my hands on (5) five manual transmission trucks. Did you ever find the fuel pump part number?

Well I was gonna put it up for about $500. If you can use it make me an offer. If you drive down I'll throw in a steak dinner.

I need to get it out of the yard eventually. I probably have a month or so before the neighbors get restless.

No biggie either way. I like the new 98 but I kinda miss driving the beatup 95.
