Re: 3.15 T-case gears or Possible group buy [Re: justice]

As it sits, we don't have no more than 10 people really interested. Granted, as the Gen 1's become older, others will be looking to upgrade to a Gen II or II.5. I'd would be in for sure BUT how do we put someone in charge of collecting deposits and HOW do we pay the difference of the other 10 sets that would have to be stored til others are ready to purchase the remainder of the gears one by one? I have no doubt they would eventually all get sold. At the same time, we may be able to get Aussie owners interested that have autos too to help sell or be part of that original 20 set purchase.

If we pull together as a group, it can be done. I've seen Isuzu guys do it. Have a pot that if someone is interested, can donate temporary til the rest are sold throughout the years. We would keep track of who's put in what and that person can get it back once gears are sold.

That being said, I'll purchase a set of 3.15's at $950 est, and I think I could donate $100-200 to put towards future sets. But the more that buy up front, the less that would be needed to donate.

Am I making any sense?

Just a thought, Input?

I'd maybe start by posting the idea up on the Aussie sites to gauge interest (Outerlimits4x4.com & pajeroclub.com.au) and the money can possibly handled through some kind of online escrow service?

guys, i reckon you are going to be pushing it uphill to get 20 orders although that is a very reasonable target set by the manufacturer.

for all the reasons i have mentioned in other posts & speaking form experience I still reckon the best way forward would be to develop a kit do make a doubler.

I'm talking independantly to NWest Fab about their unit & I have to do some measurements this weekend.

But given all the experience & knowledge on this forum , especially the guys who have actually fitted doublers a team effort may be the way to go instead of indivuality.

I would be willing to chip in $$$ to get the project started if others are interested as well. Otherwise I will probably go it alone with the Black Box untit & try getting adaptors made here locally in OZ.

cheers

A doubler that works with the OE xcase I have would be preferred so I don't loose my current investment on the 3.15's.

yes that is my preferred option too, sorry I should have state that. I want tp keep the active trac.

I wouldnt be retaining the 3.15s however as that gearing would be way too low for me at 113.1 , you would never be able to pull the thing up with brakes (auto tranny), you'd have to put in in N to be able to do anything. With the standard 1.90 gears & a 2.7 doubler the low would be 68:1 ideal.

A doubler would be cool but 3.15 would be the most I'd need, I think so are we going to try & push the group buy of 20 sets?

I'm not a frequent user on the other sites, actually haven't been over in years. Would someone be able to round up some interest there just to get the pot stirring & see what we can come up with? I think between the 2 boards/sites, I believe we could drum up enough interest.

Where do we start?

Is there any reason a Klune wouldn't work?
