Havent seen much about this topic in awhile. Wondering who's gotten the most recent set of t case gears and how did you go about getting it. I know a while back there were quite a few members that got them when they first came out. After that, it was a little difficult to even get in touch with the guys over seas.
Now I'm thinking of finally getting a set but I want to get them now just in case the guy (mark is his name?) been awhile, a little foggy) runs out & stops producing them.
Are there other members interested in a group buy as we did for the snorkels?
Any info or contact info would be great too. Thanks in advance!

I'd be interested in getting more info, price, etc.. I'm in no hurry to build up the Montero with mods, but it's inevitable with the parts stacking up in my garage for it. I'm looking for 4.90s first then t-case gears could be on my hit list unless I settle with 4.62s

What would be great is to see if someone had a set that we could get a place here in the US to make them.

Here is the link that I used.
Crawler Gears
sometimes you have to support the people who do make the upgrades for our monteros or you might not even have that if they don't sell.
my brother and I both got them from this website a while back.
Mine in 2007, Mark in 2009.
oh and by the way, these t-case gears are almost required for off roading if you don't want to overheat your transmission, especially if running 33s or larger and carry a lot of weight. I have 35s and the truck weighed in at 7600 lbs and not once did my AT light come on during the summer heat in Moab.
4.90 R&P are easy to find and don't have to be custom made.......t-case gears are custom made and could eventually not be available in the future.
the 4.90s are in the gen III monteros as well as some of the montero sport models.......junk yards have them all over the place.

We bought the most recent set, the gears are no longer available directly from Marks 4WD. They have to be bought from Advanced Adapters i think the cost is now around $2000-2500. At that point you're getting into Atlas range anyways

I suggest a less expensive alternative that would be even better than the 3.15's, Box4Rocks + flipped Dana 300. You'll get a better crawl ratio and you'll have a great cruising ratio and a standard 4 hi.

I like hearing about these different options especially the affordable ones. It still would be nice if there was a straight swap case instead of building up a doubler to get what we need especially since almost all of drive our trucks to where we go offroad, so it is very important for it to be dual purpose.

I've been looking at brownie boxes, aux trannies, to go between the 4L60E and the NVG242 I am planning for the Astrovan. I have 3.73 posi gears, and the mileage is about 14. I got 19 in an astrovan with the same motor, 2wd, same tranny, and 3.08 gears...
I want a .8 o/d, about a 1.25 u/d, and the 1:1 middle gear. Little worried about shifting on the fly with no clutch, but can probably do the bounce the throttle trick to slacken the driveline and quick shift it. Looking at something like a Spicer 4813 (#???), small spicer brownie in any case. There are better crawl type ratios available.

guys,
Hardman Bros in Melbourne are the people that made the gears: http://www.hardmanbros.com.au/
Talk to Mark or Leigh.
From what I have heard they do not have any spare stock but would consider a group buy.
There are 3 sets of gears that they have done: 2.85 for earlier Pajeros/monteros 3.15 for Gen 2 3.15 for Gen 3
I have a set in both my Gen 2.5 & Gen3
It is possible that the Gen 3 gears would also fit the Gen 4 vehicles , as Mitsu part numbers have revealed similarities, however big doubt exists for the NT Diesel (Aus). There does not appear to be anyone that has installed these gears in a Gen 4 though.
BTW it was mentioned on the Aus forum that Hardman Bros bought out Marks 4wd Adaptors in Melbourne.
Good luck.

F#*! That's not the kind of news I was looking forward to! I knew this day was going to come and I waited too long. I'd rather look for the most direct way to lower the gears in the t-case. All other options I think would take some fabbing, as far as I know. I'm not around any Mitsubishi clubs or guys to lend a hand or learn the ropes on mods for the t case so gonna try to see what I can do with the 3.15's from AUS.
So since the gears have been made before, they can be made again, right? At first there was a lot of planning & work to get the first one developed. After that, it was down hill from there.
I don't keep up enough on the outer limits board. Can anyone get me the info I need to contact someone & see what it would take? I'm def not paying $2500 for a set
If a group buy is the only solution, what quantity of gears would it take? Who would be interested within the next 3 months?
On a good note for the developer, whoever has the power to make them again should consider that they would be able to sell a large amount of them now and in the near future. I see often that members are retiring their Gen I's and going with Gen II's and 2.5's so I doubt he'd have trouble selling them.
Anyone care to tell me how much they usually go for?
Ps, is it possible to have a set that hasn't been installed copied here in the US?
