3.5 DOHC swap into Gen 1 4cyl in under a month!
      #1230437 - 12/14/10 11:57 AM

Well We started swapping Justices 3.5L engine into PA_JERO´s 1988 Montero SWB on thanksgiving weekend and it runs and drives as of sunday. Here´s a crappy cell phone video of one of the first test drives proof . Maybe PAJ can make a cool burnout video soon or even a trail test video.

Good Work PA_JERO

Well-done, fellas.

And, a "trials and tribulations" list would be icing on the cake.

And to note, this is Pa_jero's rig. Not Toasty's, which had the no-run issues...

Good to see the engine used for a good cause..Its always ran good. Hope you replaced the Valve guide seals though...thing smokes like a chimney after long periods of idling.

They didn't, although I repeatedly advised them to. It would have been far easier to do before the engine went in.

The Montero of Justice lives on, with parts and pieces in several AZ Crew rigs. Dylan Anderson, RyanY, Toasty, Lordtrunks, Pa_Jero, Clay TK and myself all have something to show for the sacrifice. It really wasn't the original intent of the whole operation, but it really worked out well.

I'm taking it out of my signature now...

Right, PA_JERO's swap went smooth with very few hang ups. It is much easier to do a swap with a donor truck than the way i did my 2.4 swap as i was missing things and had nothing to reference. I'll take a bunch of pictures when i go back to PA_JERO's house. the reason for not doing the valve seals before hand was that he doesn't have the cash until after the holidays and was a bit intimidated by the swap and didn't want to spend any money on the engine until he knew the swap was going to work. Remember he had attempted this swap about 7 years ago and gave up and basically parted that truck out.
