Got a lot more done, thanks to Mr. Toastman rockin' mad fab skillz!
Can I drive it? NO! Did I drive it? YES!!
Preliminary impression is it's going to kick more than this thing

Steering feels good, "posture" feels good, can't really tell much else without brakes or shocks...
Yay!!

Shocks are in, brakes work, steering works, everything seems to work!

More work done... Front sway bar is in... er... I kinda might have accidentally done a really crappy redneck job on part of it. Pretty sure it won't break, it's at least as strong as the stock one was - but it sure looks
I had to put longer shocks in than I was expecting... hey anyone want to buy some sweet monotube KYB's for an Expedition with about 20 miles on them? Ended up with what passes for rear shocks on 80's dodge pickups, about 10.75" travel at the shock (so around 14" travel per side at the tire center line) - I have limiting straps that are getting installed today after work, since I don't think my shocks will tolerate being used to limit extension travel. Due to some politics and horse poop the shocks I crammed in there are air shocks, however I have a pretty good feeling that in the not too distant future they're going to be replaced with XJ springs and (longer) monotube shocks.. KYB or Bilstein - yep, for the first time ever I finally started appreciating performance shocks.
I have a minor rear driveline vibe. It only shows up like between 20-35mph while under a little bit of power, totally disappears at high speed. Hopefully it won't be too much of a PITA to fix. Speaking of high speed... now that the sway bar is in place it drives NICE on the freeway! And on surface streets, and over speed bumps, and in parking lots. I haven't tried driving over the carcasses of the damned yet but it probably drives nicely over those too. Smooth, no clunks, no rattles, no slop, no bump steer.
Oh.. still no front driveshaft. Yeah.

Joni & I just got back from camping out at Aravaipa Canyon - we camped at the Fourmile camp ground just west of Klondyke.. this is a great campsite! Spent 2 nights there in March and another 2 nights this weekend. No other campers.. and when we checked the register there had been 8 other people through (who took the time to register or camp) since we last visited in March. ... This is at a campground with clean, perfect, unvandalized restrooms flush toilets, sinks with glass mirrors above 'em, even electrical outlets!
Aravaipa Canyon is beautiful with clean clear running water for the first few miles (as it warms up it kinda starts getting the usual arizona river goo... )
Oh, yeah the solid axle.
Holy Crap!! Smooth and steady on the highway, confident and level on highway curves, drastically smoother than the IFS was on dirt tracks, extremely easy to control. I had to check my speedometer frequently because I was getting much too comfortable smoothly gliding down the dirt roads at much higher than prudent speeds.
There's still a little work to do on it, like for example a driveshaft but it safely took us there & back - and every time my paranoid stopped to inspect every nut, bolt & weld there was nothing amiss, nothing loose.. yay!

Heck yeah! New springs installed. Superlift #550, they are 160lb/in and 21" unladen. Fit like a glove, ride like.. well, like factory I guess. Tight but not too stiff... way awesome.
New Bilstein 4600's (that I ordered a few weeks ago) finally will deliver Tuesday according to UPS
Gave the KYB monotubes to Lordtrunks, hopefully he does something awesome with them!!
Front transfer case output shaft flange thingie ordered from Synergy Offroad... should be here in a week or two.
Front driveshaft in garage, waiting to go in. Bronco2 rear drive shaft from Dick's Shaft here in Phoenix, bought it like... what 8 years ago? Hung onto it all this time & turns out it's a perfect fit on this SAS!
Today after work I decided it was time to try out what this thing will REALLY do... 2wd but on a severely mogul'd hill near town that was always a challenge in the stock Blazer... something tells me this truck is going to be when it's done. The moguls might as well not have bothered existing. Just oozed over them level with zero attention paid to choosing a line, zero lifted tires, zero wheelspin, zero squeaks, groans, clanks, clicks, clangs, explosions or dingleding noises. None.
So close to done....
