:Looking for some suggestions on wheels for a swb 1g montero
      #1213927 - 06/14/10 08:05 AM

I'm going to be picking up a swb montero pretty soon and I want to get an idea of what I can run without compromising performance too much. I dont want super wide mud tires as I will probably mostly do trail driving n what not, but not sinking it in mud holes. I dont want fender flares so something that sits legal without them. also 14 or 15inch wheels?

Thanks.

15" is factory, I don't know of any offroad tires for 14" rims mostly. But I don't know how 14s would fit over the brake components, etc anyway.

14s will not clear the front caliper. Swampers are available is 27" and 29" x 14 rims.

31" tires are a good compromise for stock 15" rims and legality. 33x10.5s and 34x10.5s will do, too, but will increase your final drive ratio.

I would go with a 31x10.5 or 33x10.5(or similar sized metric tire) mud terrain on the stock 15s
31x10.5 on stock 15s

Got a set of 16x7 Toyota Tacoma steelies off Craig's List, and mounted a set of 265/70 Sumitomo ATs. Hub openings and bolt pattern fit perfect, and there's no rubbing anywhere, either up/down or at full lock, and the tires are covered by the stock mud flaps:

scored some 31x10.5 all terrains on land cruiser 15x7 alloys for 150$ on craigslist. Be patient and look around, you'll find a good deal on tires. If i could do it all over again i would get some 32x11.5's/33x11.5's for my street/trail running because there is plenty of room and i noticed absolutely no difference in driveability after i upgraded to the 31's from stock. I am currently looking for some bigger tires and plan to sell the 31's for the same amount i paid.

Quick question, i CAN run 32/33x11.5's on a 7 inch wide rim right?
