do the V6 Montero's have a bigger gas tank than the 4 cylinders? The 13 gallon one in the MudRaider is just silly. I swapped a 20 gallon one from a different S-10 into my originally equipped 14 gallon tank S-10, wondering if that is possible or even an option?

Try being out West with a Gen 1 ! That tank is way to small for the MPG it gets.

sorry to hijack....any close ups of that gas can mount?

I think I have one like it sitting on the shelf in the garage, Kris. I'll see if I can get a pic up this weekend.

EDIT: Here's a shot of what I think is the same gas can mount on my old White Monty.

Ok, Ben.

That holder is a clamp of sorts. The little round "eye" on top is a screw that tightens the top plate onto the lip of the gas can as it turns. On the back of the aluminum piece was a piece of U-channel that I thought was cheesy, so I ground it off and welded a piece of one sized pipe to the plate that bolts to the tire mount and a larger size pipe to the plate that mounts to the "clamp" assembly. I then slipped the small pipe into the larger pipe and drilled a hole all the way through so a pin can be put in to make a quick release for the clamp. That made mounting the spare easier and I'm able to put other "attachments" on there with the right size of pipe.

Anyway, more info than you asked for, but there it is...

Is that a land rover discovery ladder on the back of your white Montero? I saw one the other day and was wondering if it would fit a gen I and it looks like it does. Great! Did you have to modify it to fit at all?

thanks,

I'm glad you know what was on my truck because I can't confirm what it was supposed to be for. It was on there when I bought it.
