great trucks. timing chains on the KA tend to stretch in higher milege but otherwise very good.

im partial to V6s so i would find a 94/95 (much nicer interior than older) i have a 95 SE-V6 4x4. its been very good though i dont take it out for much wheeling.

timing belts are easier than monteros :) (at least 24v. never done a 12v monty)

it is. 95 was the last year of the VG30 in the trucks. 94 was the last year of it in the 2wd.

nissan didnt put a V6 in the pickup again until a couple years into the frontier line with the VG33E.

We've had alot of these trucks in our family,

My brother's first truck was a 1991 Nissan 4x4 with the 2.4
My parents had a 1991 2wd 2.4 Nissan truck, then got a 1995 V6 4x4 when we moved to PA.. drove that to 230k.. took my driving test with it, truck ran just as good as the day they bought it, but the transmission was starting to get noisy. Then they bought a 1998 Frontier with the 2.4 in it, ended up selling it because noone could figure out why the gas mileage went down the toilet with 180k miles on it..They went back to a 1996 Single cab 4x4 with the 2.4, and they are happy as a clam with it. My brother bought an identical 1998 frontier at the time my step dad bought his.. didnt' have a single problem with the truck till an old lady hit him head on a week ago.. totalled it out at 250k miles or something stupid like that. Now he's got a 2003 Frontier quad-cab V6/automatic.

All the nissan trucks my family owned were all 5spd transmission, except the new truck my brother just got, and the only problems they ever experienced with the V6 trucks were transmissions..

The Nissan Truck is a [censored] to do the transmission. If I remember correctly, the cross memeber including the torsion bars, etc all had to come out..

Good trucks nonetheless!!!

did you keep up on maintenance with the trans? our old 1 (v6 2wd) is still in the family and has 220k on it now with no issues other than a failing ign switch cause my uncle has a 10lb keyring.

the current one has 80k so its not a good example.

I couldnt tell you.. all of them had a Clutch, not transmission (correction) put in at some point when we owned them and the fluids were changed at that time. (well before any issues arose)

Most the miles put on those trucks were all highway between NE corner of the poconos and into scranton. Was a 20 mile drive to town.

I had a 4-cyl 1997 XE extended cab 4x4. I'd completely work it out with 98K miles on it. Still ran well enough, had trans noises.
