Interference question
      #1184041 - 11/03/09 01:01 PM

Is the 3.5L SOHC a interference engine? I can't seem to find an answer here or other place.

Can anyone answer me wether a factory t-belt is good for 60,000 or 100,000 miles? I know dealer recommedation is 60,000 in most states, but I thought in CA is was 100,000 and both are the same belt.

I go by the 60k rule. I am rebuilding my friends interference 3.0 that snapped the Tbelt and I can tell you its not a cheap fix

I agree. When I bought my Montero with 98K miles on it and no service records, the first thing I did was change the TB. It was obviously the original and had cracking on the back side of the belt, but not bad. However, I just don't think it's worth the risk. After 60K miles you're on borrowed time IMHO. Preventative maintenance is they key
