Mitsubishi Meet, Greet, 'N Wheel @ Uwharrie NC ~ 10/22-10/25
      #1180266 - 10/08/09 01:59 PM

It has been a while since the last Meet N' Greet, so here we are at the 2nd big trip of the year. The event lasts from Thursday the 22nd through Sunday the 25th. The main day will be Saturday, with most people staying Fri/Sat/Sun. Meet up time will be 9am-10am on Saturday for those not staying the weekend. We will hit the trails at approx. 11am. The group will be meeting/staying at the Arrowhead Campgrounds, there are still sites available:

The Uwharrie National Forest is located an hour and half outside of Charlotte NC:

If you are using Mapquest/Google Maps this is the address for the Eldorado Outpost:

The Eldorado Outpost
4021 NC Route 109
Troy, NC 27371

The Outpost is also where you can get your day trail pass ($5), gas, supplies, air up, etc. As mentioned Day Passes are $5 a day per vehicle, and season passes are $30 (season runs April 1st- December 15th).

We will be wheeling trails appropriate from stock trucks to modified. But incase you don't want to take your truck out there are always seats to ride along. Here is the current 2009 trail map:

Saturday's dinner will be at Zeno's Italian Restaurant located about 15 minutes from the campgrounds/trails. Bring your appetite because portions are very generous.

Don't worry if you don't live in NC, people travel from Pennsylvania, Flordia, Georgia, Virginia to make this trip. It is worth the drive for a weekend of Mitsubishi Wheeling Fun.

First keep in mind the Arrowhead Campgrounds are a paved facility with the majority of their sites having electricity. Its almost like a paved driveway with a parking area, grill, fire pit, picnic table, and electricity. There is a bath house with showers/toilets, and there are water hook ups etc. For the last how ever many years I have been going I sleep in my truck, which is an option. But I understand for people with families etc and any sane person this isn't always the best option.

So there are Hotels in the town of Troy that is about 20 minutes from the trails. Googling Hotels Troy NC came up with this:

Google Maps Link

I would stay as close to Highway 109 as you can. Here are some approx distances:

Uwharrie Cabin Rentals: 10-15 minutes
Uwharrie Mountain Lodge: 20-25 minutes
Executive Inn: 25-30 minutes
Days Inn Biscoe: 30-35 minutes

Only downside to this is you have to get up a little bit earlier than those staying at the campgrounds. Hope this helps.

I will try to take an updated pic soon. It is not as built as it once was. I took off the body lift and sold the bumper and winch and took off the roof rack. It still has a snorkel, 33x10.5 BFG ATs on factory LS aluminums, 95 SR rear axle, SR springs, heavy duty torsion bars, and the ultra rare in the US maybe the only installed factory jerry can holder.

I de-built it when I started driving 1 hour to work and never having time to wheel it. Then I started making less money and got laid off. I do plan to keep this one forever though. I took off the con-ferr rack because water got in the tubes and started rusting from the inside out and started spliting the tubes apart. I want to make a custom rack using the cross bars and mounts from the con-ferr. My truck is not as cool as Angelo's or Landraiders or a lot of the guys out west.

My 93SR I sold the ECB bumper. Phil has it on his awesome JDM Pajero. It has the worn out 32x11.5 MTs on black rockcrawler rims, rear ARB locker, bigger coils and airbags, and an Airflow snorkel.

You guys have fun out there. And everyone knows, it's not the sum of the parts on the truck that make it pretty awesome, it is the driver...Sparky.
