Currently the best case scenario would be for most people to show up the 24th, wheel the 25th, and go home the 26th (Fri,Sat, Sun). Worst case scenario is just turn it into a day trip for the 25th (Sat), show up in the morning wheel and then go home. I know there were people that couldn't make the July 11th trip so this one is for them. I plan on making it, who else is in?

I'll let you know if I'm in by next week. I know the Isuzu guys are planning a Callantee trip the first week of Aug, so I'm trying to get my Montero ready for that trip too, but again, not sure if I'll be ready or able by then.
Icysyrup, you going out there with them?

Uwharrie is about an 1hr 15min or so away from me, Callalantee is about 3 hours away. That is a big difference is distance, especially if something breaks etc.

that's def something to consider, but if something breaks, repairs are going to be the same, towing would be the only concern. But then again, do we wheel hard enough to break something? Just threw it out there cause even tho Uwharrie is a good starting place to learn to wheel and good for our type of vehicles, it's always good to switch it up. Besides, didn't I hear a few talking about this summer heat in Uwharrie and getting up early to beat it. Up at callantee, its cooler and might work out good as the isuzu crowd has pointed out, uwharrie begining and end of season, callantee durning the summer. No doubt about it, callantee is hard, but one or two trips out there compared to the 12 planned trips a year wouldn't be a bad mix. Annnd, LOL, the isuzu guys love to help repair vehicles, so that's a plus

I have wanted to go out to Callalantee and Tellico for a while yes, but I am not sure about doing a day trip. I have experienced the Isuzu guys willingness to help fix vehicles first hand when my truck crapped a radiator hose on Daniel, but the fact still remains getting a truck back from Mountain City TN will be harder than Uwharrie. Even with the contingency plan that JoeD has.
I don't know I may make it up, I will have to find a money tree to get the $80 in gas it will take to get up there. And it will just be wonderful driving up there on 34" swampers, driving in the mountains plus major tread loss double whammy.

If I knew for sure I was going I'd say borrow a trailer (I may be able to), haul your truck up there and share the gas. If not this time, then another time for sure
I agree that driving a 4 banger on 34" swampers doesn't sound appealing
Angelo you could throw your trail tires on the trailer too. But, like I said I'm not sure as we're trying to get a few days vacation around then. We'll see.

I hear the concerns and they are def something to think about. You always have to weigh out the pros and cons of a trip. Reubens got a good idea about the trailer, how much does UHaul charge per day? (Reu, who do you plan on nominating to pull this trailer?) but I was only considering a TN trip to change it up and I'm sure everyone would like to check out those trails, if not now, on a future trip for sure.
As for me, I'm always a maybe. But the only way I would push for a trip (for myself) up to TN is if I can get skids done on time. But other than that, I'm always up for Uwharrie if my job permits me
Reuben, when will you find out about your vacation time?

Yeah, I'll pull the trailer. They are $50 to rent but I may be able to borrow one.
Becky and I were talking this morning and we're going to try and get the vacation stuff sorted out. The trouble is she just spent two weeks in the UK with her sister and so taking more time off work might not go down well. Plus schools will be starting in August and I have a ton of teaching prep to do. Soooooo, that might be the only time we can go. We'll get it sorted out in the next couple of days. Also, I'm not going to go this time unless I have my locker/lower gears in. It's a long way to go to try and drive around open/open.

Reu, if you have a sat or Sunday afternoon off, let me know. What else do you need for that axle and locker swap?
You'll love the new gears and locker. No more backing up, atleast not as much

Let me know if this trailer idea works out, I can split gas no problem. Sounds a lot better than taking off at least 1/32nd of tread and going 35mph up the mountains.

Not too confident I'd be going much faster with your truck dangling off the back I like the idea though. It would save me save me some gas money too.

tell that slow mail man to get his there and to hurry his up before i kick his
And I'd be willing to tow if mine was more capable, since my TLS would be on there too. But I might not be best suited for it even with the new gearing. I'll just swap out Reubens 32" with my 35" and I'll be good to go. That way we can all waste gas!

Hopefully you would leave your 34" TLSs (New version of TSLs? ) on the trailer with my truck and just run your BGFs (the new version of the BFGs ).

BGF's
Would need your bolt on hitch Angelo. Mine has a high rating but sticks out too far and so would create too much leverage on the 4 bolts towing that kind of weight

I MIGHT go to Callalentee on saturday, but still not 100%. Anyone else going? If I go, I wont be wheeling so I'll just tag along
Anyone have info on how to get there and any ideas when or what the group will be doing throughout the day?

Those pics looked like it was just enough work to keep a moddified vehicle busy
