No Power above 3000 RPM
      #1166252 - 07/11/09 01:57 PM

Here's the scoop:
1. Codes P0300,0303,0304 All misfires cylinders 1-4
2. 1.2k miles on valve job, Brand new plugs, wires and coils
3. Slowly lost mileage on trip from 25 down to 20 and slowly lost power.
Things I've done:
1. Swapped out coils with old coils and wires. NO CHANGE
2. Changed fuel filter NO CHANGE
3. Changed fuel pump NO CHANGE
4. Swapped out injectors. NO CHANGE
5. Swapped out throttle body NO CHANGE
6. Checked compression 155-160-163-152

What it acts like is that it is starved for fuel...Doesn't really have a miss.
If you are idling and go to WOT, it sometimes will rev up to about 4k rpm and then stop revving, other times it will die like a car with a bad accelerator pump in the carburetor.

Next thing to change is the fuel pressure regulator on fuel rail.

Any other thoughts???

Well, swapped out pressure regulator and NO CHANGE...but...got more codes:
0326 knock sensor, 1586 AT/MT Codification, 0501 Vehicle Speed Sensor Range/Performance (odd since car wasn't driven), 0604 Internal Control Module RAM Error.
Wonder if computer is having issues.... Think I have a spare...better check ground wires...
Anyone have any other thoughts....

The cat converter has broken apart internally and is blocking the exhaust.

Your '96 should have just one cat, directly under the driver.

'98 and newer have two cats. One on the exhaust manifold and one under the driver.

This one's a 2000 so I'll change both.
Last thing I did was changed the pressure regulator...no wires...
I'll reset and see if they come back...

When my cat went out I just kept driving it intil all the peices went out the tail pipe. Actuly I didn't know I had a problem intil I was building my new exhaust and looked in the cat and it was empty. I have a MagnaFlow on it now just hanging there awaiting an engine.

Good luck, Dennis
