Preparing for this trip was a bit different than usual since when we left we were expecting up to 5" of rain!? I'm proud to say that we had an EXCEPTIONAL (near 100%) turnout even with this crushing weather report! It did rain a little for like 10 minutes Friday night, followed by 5 minutes of crazy heavy rain, but then the skies immediately cleared to reveal an amazing number of stars with no rain in sight. Saturday's weather was beautiful, all through to late evening. Not until about 2am did the wind pick up, and when it did it wreaked havoc!! Luckily the sand was still a bit wet or even more of it would have been flying, but believe me it was still flyin... the tent campers will also attest to that! After a deserving IHOP breakfast Sunday morning and then returning to crazy winds on the beach, everyone packed up to leave. And luckily so! It rained like mad on the beach Sunday night, and anyone without a camper would have hated life. The trip might have been cut a bit short, but it was still a blast. As always it was great to meet more people from the Wire!

Night run!
Sunday morning, bright and early, very very very windy
On the way back from IHOP Sunday morning
THE END
But then Kris and I spontaneously decided to stay on for Sunday night even though we were expecting terrible weather. After all, we had the trailer!

Monday morning, in the rain

Exciting water crossing on the way out!

It was great seeing some old friends and making a bunch of new ones. Here's to the next one.
The rain sort of washed out the sand caught in the bead of the tire. Refilled it on Monday morning, it held, so it went back on. Went to check out some roads in the Mendocino National Forest. Had to turn around from the snow being as high as the front bumper. Need to get the pix sorted, and I'll post up.
The tire was flat again this morning. American Tire fixed it for free! Pulled about a cup of sand from inside the tire, some was still in the bead.
Thanks Ray for setting up the run.

Not Related to our Group. Saw him at the Finn's Restraunt on Sunday.

Kris, it looks like this guy's got a sticker across the top of his front window. Did you catch what it says? Curious.

Looks to me like it says "The Box".
Anyway, thanks for sharing the pics! It looks like it was a good time. Nice looking beach...our Texas beaches are not so nice.
Is that water crossing an actual river or stream, or is it just a low spot where the ocean goes farther onto the beach?

Thanks for writing it up Joanna!!
Here are my pics from the trip.

The Monties in a row. Chris getting some coffee from his/Joanna's trailer.

Joanna offering me coffee. Ty and his son 'yoda'.

Lined up for Carlos' arrival. Carlos's rig packed to the gills. His wife and two kids were with him plus he was headed to Vegas after the camping trip. Michael brought back his camping gear so he wouldn't have to bring it to Vegas.
Michael and I airing up on Sunday before driving home.

I can't see any of Off Roaders pics. If I quote the post, image code comes up, but I cannot see this pics in the thread.
We just upgraded our explorer...could that have something to do with it? I have never had problems viewing anything on this site before.

It should be working but it seems there may have been an issue w/ montypics. I can see the pics fine right now. i'm using firefox not IE though.

I was able to check them out at my parents tonight. I was using firefox at the time and still could not see them...I will have to check tomorrow and see if the pics showed up afterall. My wife upgraded our IE and now almost nothing works...I guess we have to go through and change settings or something. I know for sure that the upgrade got rid of the java player and some other things...sheesh...what's the point of upgrading...my online banking does not even recognize the upgraded IE.
Anyway...thanks again for sharing ya'lls trip report. Always enjoy it!!!

The Family & I had a good time. I had the most fun when ghostraider / Kris took us out to the dunes and did some challenging obstacles and even GrassCat / Michael was out there with us hitting the dunes. The night run was also fun.

Man you were all over those dunes with us, it was awesome! My favorite part was when Kris' Raider got us stuck sideways on a dune and we had to carefully side slide our way out of it. Geez I always forget to check the inclinomter, but it was a nice little rush. Thanks for coming back to check on us Nick!

I can see way everbody was beat and ready to leave. Those sandstorms , the cold and damp and no sleep alway knock the heck outa me. It was perfect weather up in No.County that sat. night and I had no idea what was going on down there. I had a heck of a time leaving Sat. night. That creek was easy in the morning, had to climb up a squared 2 foot wall of packed sand. Allmost knocked my dog off his seat as hard as I hit it. It didn't rain up here untill Tues. The Coast Range held the rain along the coast. Great seeing ya'll, now I'm gonna do more modifications.

Nice being with the group again and meeting some really nice new folks who join the group this time.
It was my first time in the sand and it was fun, even though I did get airborne a couple of time and things flew everywhere in the truck, thought I had it all nailed down, not true.
To bad we had to cut it short because of the wind, not a die hard like Joanna and Kris.
Joanna will you send me the picture of the GrassCat flying or maybe post it here?
Until the next time, Happy trails you all and may all your problems be small ones.

Michael I so wish that photo came out but the darkness wreaked havoc on my camera's ability to focus. Sorry! I can say for sure that I was witness to your liftoffs! Perhaps this means you'll have to visit Pismo again... I'll save your flag for you.
I know it's not the same but I do like this pic of you!

Thanks for trying Joanna.
The GrassCat looks so lonely up there, most likely the driver was saying, Oh no not another one.
The first time I went over one of those hills behind Kris I was a little nervous to say the least and the one in the picture was mild.
For those of you who have never done such a foolish thing, when you are about to go over, there's nothing but sky in your windshield and then the front wheel drop and down you go.
