Alright folks. I've been mulling it over for a while now, and I think we need a "Pay it Forward" thread.
What is a "pay it forward thread" you might ask.
Well.. Basically it is a thread in which you can offer an item up for grabs to someone who is in need, or could make use of it.
An example would be if I just sold my Gen1 Montero, and had 3 hazard switches that I stockpiled up for spares. I COULD sell them on Ebay, and make a little change, but I would rather give them away to someone on the forum who needs one to make his brake lights work in his beat up truck that he just got running. SO. I would post something like this.
"Up for grabs are these 3 used Hazard switches. These were spares for my Gen1 that I no longer own, and I would like them to go to good homes. If you need one, please reply here, and PM me your mailing address. "
The person in need of this item would reply something along the lines of.....
" I'd sure LOVE to have one of these switches to replace the flaky one in my wifes daily driver gen1!!! It's been going out, and she already got one ticket for no brake lights" You have a PM inbound with my mailing address
#1 There will be no costs, or prices involved.
#2 This is meant to promote goodwill, and build our community. The only 2 things you will gain from this thread are A. free stuff. OR B. the good feeling of giving.
#3 Try not to be a mooch. If you get some loot, try to post something of your own back up. If you take something, give something. This is super lax, but as stated above... Don't be a mooch.
#4 I'd like to keep this mitsu oriented That said.... if you've got something non mitsu it's alright, but i'd like to see forum specific stuff mainly. Outdoors stuff woudl be really awesome as well.
#5 I like # lists
#6 Enjoy there's a ton of good that can come of this.

Up for grabs......
Gen 1 rear marker light lenses
these are obviously used, and have been in my backstock for a while now. I haven't ripped them off my truck yet, so I prob. wont.

what about shipping? i think person giving should be able to at least ask to have shipping paid if they want. like say i want to give away my KM145 but i really dont want to pay the 100+ it would cost to send. but i agreee we should have a freebe sticky or something on topic mitsu for giving stuff away.

In the spirit of the thread, post things that you will give away, and ship for free.

If you have something huge like an engine, or tranny, I do not see a problem to ask the recipient to pay for shipping, or help out on it at least.
You as the giver could say "pickup only" or This is too expensive to ship, but if you'd like it, I will crate it up, so you can arrange someone to pick it up.
On a side note.... On yet ANOTHER car forum I belong to, in 1999 we did a "hood relay" where we shipped a hood from south Florida to Washington state. I took it from my house to Colorado on a hunting trip. It took a few months for the guy to get his hood, but we all signed the underside of it with a sharpie, and it was a cool project. I'd be willing to participate in a transmission relay if I was "going that way"

This is definitely a great idea and it'd be good to  it.
On that note, I've still got that that hole saw...the one needed for doing a Safari Snorkel install. I got it from DougB a couple years ago and it's been sitting in my garage ever since waiting for someone else who needs it. If you need it just PM me your address and it'll be on its way.
EDIT: Hole saw is being shipped to hazy_daze.

Well i gave 52degree's one of my extra v5mt1 trannys a couple weeks ago but he can't afford to ship it and neither can i got to much other cash going out but IF anyone is going thru AZ and into CA maybe it can slowly work its way to his house. This is a true story anyone who wants to help just stop by and pick it up.

Can you make it so the thread will not time expire on the ability for a poster to edit? That would be great if so, then each member only has one post that they edit as needed- add items that are new, mark others as sold or delete them, etc. It would keep the thread much, much cleaner and far easier to use if it can avoid endless scrolling. JMO
Oh, and don't tell my wife about this idea. She'll post up eveything I have in the basement...

Up for grabs...... A power unit for the 3.0 sohc. I have 3 laying around.I can part with 1 maybe 2 if you need it real bad (will ship).Also up for grabs is a stock 93 sr front bumper with head light washers and i also have the side steps free to a good home.But the bumper and steps for local pick up only or if someone is heading to another memebers area maybe they can deliver it. PM me and let me know.

I will participate in this thread.
Are the center caps for steel or Mitsu alloys? If they're for the alloys, I'd like to request three (3) rear caps, shipping on me.
All my parts are Gen I. Things sitting in my yard that can go:
1. 2 sets of front doors that might be good for a half-door project. There are 4 glass panes and manual regulators present, but 3 doors have had the vent windows harvested.
2. A 4-cyl front skid plate.
3. Some stickshift t-case skids.
4. A set of four-door door panels that would make good templates or re-cover candidates.
5. 2.6L air cleaner.
6. (2) 2.6L valve covers.
7. Little stuff aplenty, just ask or PM.
For the large stuff (anything that doesn't fit in an envelope), I'll package for shipment and send at your expense.
I'm interested in trading for things for my wife's 4-doors...but I have to make that list up. I am looking for a straight chrome rear bumper and some "Conferr" branded roof rack mounts.

Rxinhed has been a one man "Pay it Forward" guy for ages now. Although it won't balance the account by a long shot, I'd like to offer up a set of lightly used Gen1 Superwinch manual hubs to him first, and anyone else if he doesn't want them.

In the for sale section I posted a free tilt seat base out of my 89 2dr. The person that originally wanted it changed their mind. So I guess I will post it here. I live in the midwest and the shipping quote was 21 or 26 depending on shipping type. I would prefer it to be picked up though. Heck maybe I can leave it at the Badlands park for one of you guys to pick up.

89 LWB LSD rear end w/ LSD 256K (whole thing, wheel to wheel, with regular changes of REDLINE synthetic gear oil w/ LSD additive).
89 LWB rear brake shoes (new in box).
89 LWB rear brake cylinders and rebuild kit.
89 LWB front brake calipers with almost new mitsu pads (one caliper needs the hard line replaced).
95 SR rear brake proportioning valve and mount hdwr, etc.
95 SR rear brake ABS sensors.
95 SR rear coil springs.
2.6 raider carbs not sure what year/trans.
2.6 raider LSD

If any of you guys need front diff's welded i'll do those for free provided you ship both ways.
also weld up intake holes from the 3.5 dohc butterfly elimination.
and pretty much any other small welding/fab job that doesn't take all day or cost a ton, just let me know what you want and
ship it with prepaid return shipping.

I'll start with the biggie: LSD rear end for a 1987 Raider. It's complete and excellent, the only things missing are the brake drums. Never in the weather since taken from under a Raider. It's free, but I can't afford to pay the shipping ($$$$$) but I'll crate and help load for your shipping or even take it to the shippers after you make arrangements. Pick up is also fine. I'm coming back to the U.S. next week. I have a dome light (the one with the two map lights) I bought for my LWB here in OZ. Won't fit without too much work. I could send it out sometime in September (I plan to be a long way from a P.O. a lot of the time.)

I have purdy much the WHOLE front suspension out of my 86 truck. All the A-arms and CV shafts are up for grabs only thing from up front thatisnt for sale is the shocks and hubs and various steering parts.
Also got the 5spd+transfer that came of her unsure as to what models transfer case chain needs tightened I think she was clickin before removal. Skid plates and crossmemeber also up for sale. Be willing to trade transmission/transfer case or other items for 2.6l wide block 2wd transmission (asking for 2wd parts on 4x4 wire  )

I have a complete 86 2.6 wide block 2WD five speed trans in good shape, Just pulled the engine out for my 4WD. I could really use a 5 speed 4WD trans. Not sure what shipping would be, But if intersted I'll check.

Being new to the fold, I have nothing to pay forward. However, I like LandRaider's idea, so perhaps I can "Move It Forward" instead of "Pay It Forward". I have a friend who's moving from Seattle to Indianapolis around the end of September, and I can probably get some room on his truck to move a big item or two.

I have a complete 86 2.6 wide block 2WD five speed trans in good shape, Just pulled the engine out for my 4WD. I could really use a 5 speed 4WD trans. Not sure what shipping would be, But if intersted I'll check.
Check into it do you also want the transfer case??? The chain inside it needs tightened I think she rattled a bit before I pulled her

To contribute, when I changed the TB on my 3.5L I made a tool for holding the crank pulley still while torquing the crank bolt. It's not pretty but did the job well. I'd be happy to ship it out if and when someone needs it May be we could play 'pass Mad_Scientist's tool around the country'! OK, I admit that does sound a little...

Super winch hubs.
I replaced them with Aisin Hubs.
On these the gasket leaked a little moisture and there is rusty grease and staining of some of the metal.
You could clean em up and there probably still good.

mr guy, if you still have an ECU, what would you charge for shipping, also do you think an 89 ecu would work on a 91?
also you wouldnt happen to have any of the little button knobby things that go on the hvac controls would you? my monty has set for about the last 6 months while ive waited for money to fix her lol.

Hmm... I don't know. I have a v-6 5-speed. You mentioned a new clutch, so I assumed that was what I needed.

No shipping cost...this is like one of those "need a penny, take a penny- have a penny, leave a penny" trays at the register.
I think it will work in a '91- can't be 100% on that, but I'll send one and if it doesn't then just give it to someone else who needs one.

The ECM's are gone now. I knew they wouldn't last long...we used to scoop those up like candy...I guess thats why I had three of them sitting in a closet.
I will go through boxes of stuff next week and see if there is any more electrical parts that some of you guys have asked me for.

Mirrors: DS and PS. These are the single post kind. Not the pick-up style ones on the big bracket.
ECUs: Two 87 MTs #7598. One is full and in the case. The other is the board and cover. (Used the base to mount my Quest ECU.)
Rear door parts (From my 87:) Wiper motor; lock actuator; washer (from the PS quarter panel).
Rear slider latches: For SWB sliders.
Seat belts: Front from 87 SWB in blue-gray.
Horns: A bunch of them.
Clutches: From 87 MTs. Got a few, including one that is painted CenterForce scheme, that should be not too bad. Would need to get something to cover any shipping though.

Any one got a g52b head?? Shoulda came out of a 79-82 d50/MM dont know bout monteros my intake for my dual mikuni 44s is meant for a g52b not a g54b.... so i reckon some head swappage is nesscessarry

I found a hazard switch for an 87/88 pickup...mounts beside the steering cover to the left in a horizontal fashion.

cant find one? your kidding right? i noticed some of them when i was at gen I monty heaven a couple days ago. yes ray, its still there... so next time your here for longer than a few hours game on. ill take a look when i go back, itll probably be awhile before i get up there again though. btw, coil is self explanitory... which transistor? the one on the same bracket as the coil? in the meanwhile ill try to take a look through my crates of junk in the shed.

THey use that transistor and on all kinds of vehiles,,,look at any Japanese cars with the 3.0 SOHC. Hyundai Sonata, Diamante ,,,Look at Mitsubishi made 4 bangers ,too. Seems I grabed 3 or 4 one day at Pick in Pull in Stockton CA. Colt Vista, 2.4 M.Max,,,,
Look at the J-21 on that thing...
Coil is prety common too...

I have a set of stock steel 15 inch rims and crappy tires from my SWB up for grabs. I'll add a picture tomorrow. Truck is a 1987 Raider. The tires are dead. 4/5 hold air. One is actually newer with good tread. I don't have the equipment to dismount them (yet) but they are free to a good home. I can't cover shipping but I can get them to a freight place for ya!

I have a headlight washer reservoir/pump. The PO removed the washers from my Raider so I can't use it. I will hook it up and make sure it works before sending if anyone wants it. I imagine shipping would be $8-12 probably.

I keep seeing all these ECU's up for sale and I keep wondering about getting one for my 91 V6 Mighty Max 5spd
So heres a question are the 3.0 ECUs between the Raider/Montero and truck the same?

Ive got an overhead light with the individual map lights. It's that greeny sort of tan color. I haven't tried it - it won't fit easily into my import Paj here. I also have in Bellingham, WA a complete rear seat (from the '89 Raider), gray in excellent shape. It would have to be picked up.

Hello,
I think I need a stock carburetor for a 1987 SWB 2.6l. Mine has a weber and I need to get it emission tested. I have been told that it will not pass with a weber. I have some stuff to trade: bouncy seat, dash snow globe..

I have 3rd row "jump seats" (2) from a 2000 montero for free.
I would think it would fit other years. grey/beige in color.

The seat is blue and it is in fantastic shape. The wheels are round - I didn't look too closely at them.

Bug Eyed Window Flares - for the Gen 2.
I had the dumb idea of tacking them on with pop rivets so the drivers side has a couple holes along the bottom edge. Never put in the pass side.
You'll either love em or hate em - but if you take em - you gotta use em - or put them back up here. They might be cool if you do alot of mudding or running through dense vegetation, or just like to keep the window open through all weathers...
You'll probably have to find an epoxy that will bond plastic to the rubberized window trim along the bottom - the stock stuff that came with it was a joke. And I'd have some clamps on hand too.

Might one of the door panels be a blue front passenger side panel? The previous owner tried to take it off without the right tool. Its messed up. Also need a replacement power window switch for this door panel.

I have an 87 montero swb i bought not running for parts. tan seats front and rear, 5sp tranny and tcase and more. I was getting ready to scrap it, so PM me with your request. Rig is about 2/3 complete. If local, you can have anything you want, but you may have to take it off yourself

do not know what you can fit them on but i was going to put them on my 1989 raider with some modifictions....

Still got the seats??? I'm in North Minneapolis and would like to take a look at them. Also, if you or anyone else has the front, smaller skid plate that covers the oil pan I will gladly take that off of your hands- can't seem to find one anywhere!

Hi there, I am looking for a trailer hitch unit for a 89 Montero. I am tying to get a unit ready to take materials to Mexico to build homes for the poor. Have the trailer...picking up the Monty this week just need the hitch assembly.

In the for sale section I posted a free tilt seat base out of my 89 2dr. The person that originally wanted it changed their mind. So I guess I will post it here. I live in the midwest and the shipping quote was 21 or 26 depending on shipping type. I would prefer it to be picked up though. Heck maybe I can leave it at the Badlands park for one of you guys to pick up.

I got these a couple years back.
Except for the New Issue; they are all from late 80's and early 90's.
They all have some sort of Mitsubishi Montero/Dodge Raider stuff in them!!
Some Mags have only 1 page and some is Multi page nice article!
You just pay me $2 + actual media mail charges ( like $2 ? )

Fan Clutch off a 89 3.0. It turns with the same tension that the new one at the parts store did. But I am not 100% sure of its disengaging abilities. I switched to an electric fan set up due to not being able to locate the plastic fan portion of the assembly.

Yes 4.6's sorry no interest in pulling the gears and the 3rd member is too heavy to ship to be cost effective.

Two things. Pair of MMC Yellow Foglight lenses and interior overhead light - the old one with the separate spotlights.
I'm returning to the U.S. next week. I've already packed the light, but won't carry the lenses unless someone can use them.

I believe so. If I remember correctly it's the same as the one in my Raider - but it's kind of a pukey color. PM me the info and I'll mail it when I get there.

Free--
1992 auto transmission with transfer case, and some auto transmissions bits like shifter, shift cables, nuetral safety swith, etc.
I replaced this with a manual tranny. The auto tranny worked well as did the transfer case. Once in a while it hesitated to shift into 1st when comming to a stop; not very often though. has about 220K miles on it.

Cleaning out 2.6 shuff ... got one set oem turbo pistons and rods .. one set NA pistons and rods 0.75 mm over... o one set turbo pistons and rods but no rod caps on this set ... Give something to ship them ... Let me know ..

Been cleaning some more ..Have a Turbo crank and balancer to go with the turbo rods ...I'm sure I have a Turbo block I'll add to the mess too..(Need to make sure the block is good.. Have looked at them ..But did not really "LOOK") Just going to keep my 2.6 motors that are whole and in one peace ..And clean out the loose parts ..Have anuff 2.6 parts to last me a life time lol.. Maybe someone could use them ..

The following items, off my 1998, are free, just come by the compound and pick them up.
Front bumper with lights and washers. The complete washer system to go along with it. (Gone)
The rear bumper.
The running boards, mudflaps, and all the mounting hardware.
The roof rack. (Gone)
The front leather seats with the driver seat being powered. (Gone)
The third row leather seats.
Plus;
A set of SR torsion bars.
Gen I rear springs. Gone

Crap, I could use the front seats if they were brown leather, but 52 degrees did speak up first. That's what I get for playing with mine out in the snow all day today. Oh well, if 52degrees changes his mind, let me know.
As for the washer system, any chance of sending it out if I paid for the shipping? It's not really worth it for me to drive so far for something non-critical (I definitely would drive for the seats though!), but after this weekend's muck, I would certainly take it at this price. Let me know, thank you.

The washer system is spoken for and the seats are gray with some worn places, seams coming apart. Putting them in a Gen I would be a lot of effort. Has anyone done that? You are welcome to them, come get them.

I have some body parts and stuff for local pickup (front & rear & back doors, hoods, 4-cyl rear axle housing) just in case anyone needs something.
