I had to change my resovoir 3 times in the past year due to leaks (brake symbol was coming on). I have a new one in right now. I do not have anti-lock option with this Sportage --like my other ones.
Well, to make a long story short-----My brake pedal can be pressed all the way to the floor if I push it that far. Is that Normal?
And it seams that it lacks braking power when I try to stop. I have brand new ceramic in the front and the drum area is brand new. The fluid is full in the res.
Does anyone think that there could be air in the line?
What are the signs and symptoms for this?
I asked the mechanic to bleed the fluid, and he said that it did not need it!
Or are our brakes really weak?

Sounds like your brake master cylinder has gone. Mine went when I first bought it and exhibited the same symptons. Could not bleed up the brakes no matter what.
Look at replacing that and you should be good to go.
Cheers, chris

I had the Master C changed already----isn't it the reservoir?
What other parts are they?

Same reservoir, different cylinders. Master cylinder is the cast steel thing with the attached brake lines, and is what the reservoir is attached to. If that has been replaced, sounds like you have air in the lines. Would recommend having them bled again by professional. Everet

If the culinder is ok I vote for Everet's opinion If the bouster was bad the pedal would be very hard, like braking with the engine shut.

If the booster has a leak in the diaphram the pedal will go to the floor unless you pump the brake pedal.

Forgive my ignorance in this matter, but if the Booster is bad does it leak any fluid????

You might be on to something Airdale.
That may explain the frequent res. leaks etc....
If the vacuum is bad would it show codes on the computer though?

No codes, no fluid leaks. When you press on the brake pedal a valve allows vacuume to add considerable force to the operation of the plunger in the master-cylinder.

One overriding quality of a vacuum leak in or to the diaphragm is that the brakes feel as "hard" as hell, not at all "progressive", and you need to exert A LOT of pressure to get them to work. This does not match up with the original complaint, "...all the way to the floor...", and the reported loss of fluid. A good example of no boost is to jump in the car and pump the brake pedal a few times with the engine just recently (< 1 min) switched off, you can feel the pedal "harden up" as the vacuum reservoir is used up past the one way valve.
I am guessing that you have had one too many leaks and have air in the brake lines. Signs and symptoms are as you describe. You need to find out where the leak is (both brakes and clutch systems) and get that fixed, then get your brakes bled properly to rid the lines of air.
Left of field comment....any oil or brake fluid on the discs or in the rear drums??? Nothing to stop any of the slave cyls leaking, also worth checking the condition of brake lines and rear "T" junction....

OK, just going to throw this out because I had the same thing on another vehicle last week.
I pulled the drums to check everything before a trial run. I got in and bam, clear to the floor. I though what the crap! Everything looked good with plenty of shoes left. I spent two days bleeding and re-bleeding the breaks. Nada! If I pumped them I could get them to be hard as rocks but then they would fade clear to the floor after a couple of minutes. Also, if it sat there for more than 10 minutes it would slam straight to the floor again. I replaced the master cylinder thinking it was bleeding back past a seal. A little better, but the same problem. If it sat it would still go straight to the floor on the first pump.
Then I had a euphony and realized I have forgotten to adjust the “self adjusting” star adjuster on each wheel. I jacked up each end and adjusted the “self adjusting” star adjuster until when I would spin each wheel you could hear the shoes dragging against the drums.
Tada! Breaks back, no slamming to the floor on the first pump, no having to pump the breaks to compress the air that wasn't there, and it stops on a dime now with a firm pedal that never fades. So much for the automatic “self adjusting” part. Just like a self cleaning oven, you’re cleaning/adjusting it your “self”.
So, if you've had the rear drums off recently you need to probably pull them off again, lube up the so called automatic star adjuster, and then once it's all back together adjust the star adjuster so the rear drums just start to drag when you spin the wheel.

They are accessible from the outside. Bottom center usually behind an oblong rubber insert.

THe adjuster is at TOP center. ...I just changed my rear shoes last week. They were a little loose at first, and needed more pedal and the hand brake went full travel without much effect...but the self adjuster worked perfectly and after a week, it is tight on pedal and on hand brake now. I did exercise the brake quite often both forward and reverse on purpose to make the adjuster do its job faster.
