K&N filter or CAI, Replace the stock fan with an electric one or a power chip!

Thats about it!

yes you do have to run premium. google up sportage powerchip and tou should find it. they are located in australia.
i have to say, the last few days since i have taken off the bigger tires, i am noticing a huge difference. with the ecm, and a cold air, it has quite a bit more power than stock. and i am sure my engine has been driven fairly hard offroading. i took a buddys stock sportage for a fast cruise the other day to compare the 2. his engine even has a fresh rebuild and it wasnt close.

Before you go to these extremes, I'd first recommend changing the fuel filter, replacing the plugs with premium plugs, and also changing ALL the engine related fluids. This includes the oil, coolant, power steering fluid and break fluid while your are at it.

This will probably make the biggest improvements.

Next I'd recommend changing the air filter to at least a new filter or the drop in K&N.

Then I'd recommend replacing the transmission, transfer case, and differential fluids.

After you've done all these and you still want more power, then start making the mods to the exhaust, polishing the intake and exhaust ports, and adding the K&N cone filter with a box designed to make it a cold air intake.

so far i have an intake, that helped but it doesent have a box, its just floppin around in there. i did straight pipe it when i bought it, would i have more power say with a glasspack for at least some backpressure? sure wish they had a v-6 option or i could afford a new truck

If it feels like it is starting to loose power do a compression check and if it is good you probably just need a good tune up. My speedo reads 164,000 miles and the last 104,000 has been with 31" tall tires. My power still feels good, it's not a power house but it still feels as strong as always. I have an open K&N filter with a 2 1/4" exhaust and a turbo muffler.

a glasspack would be a horrible choice in the search for more power. unless you get a thrush glasspack, it will have louvered baffles which will mess with your flow and more than likely cause you to lose power. adding a muffler to gain power probably wont help much if any. if you are going to add a muffler, get a chambered muffler so that it sounds better.

Sorry I didn't have time to finish my last post.
When I first went to the 2 1/4" exhaust I had a MagnaFlow muffler installed, the added power was great. It put my power almost even with what I had before I put on the lift and tires. I ripped a hole in the MagnaFlow in Moab and put on a summit racing turbo. I lost most of the power I gained with the MagnaFlow. I have had good luck with MagnaFlows on other vehicles also and will be installing one back on the Kia soon.
