folks, After a few months in the shop, my third Raider should be out on street tomorrow (the only thing worse than being Raiderless for 14 months was having a Raider stuck in a shop for that long).
I'm going to start upgrading the interior, and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good provider for leather front seats...or should I try neoprene? So far, I've found these folks: http://www.autoaccessoriesrusfl.com/products.htm
All best, GT

I've always wanted to try those mastercraft suspension on my gen 1. Also definitely put in/convert to heated seats if you want to upgrade the interior. Nothin better than heated seats on a cold morning Good luck and post up some pics when your done

Gen IIs will bolt in with minimal effort. I have a pair in front that only needed two holes drilled each. I have Gen II jumps in the rear. That was just a little fabbing to get them to bolt to the Gen I tumble and fold base.

Back in the 50's we used "unborn naugahide" :-) Leather and plastic is great if you have kids with stickey hands. They are cold in the winter. I would thnk that used aftermarket seats would be less expensive?

I don't think they have a kit for a Gen1, just the Sport.
But these folks do. www.leatherseats.com. I've been having the same thoughts lately and ordered a kit from them about a month ago. It took their production department awhile to find the patterns and figure them out; they almost cancelled the order. But they sent them out last Monday.
If you can wait a couple of weeks I'll let you know how the installation goes.

OK, I got the passenger seat done. Took about 6 hours; lots of details to figure out since I've never done this kind of work before. Here's some shots.
The original seat. It's condition is not too bad, but I decided to do it first so I could still drive the truck while I learned upholstery. Max is not happy that his perch is out of the truck.
And now the reupholstered version.
Here's a detail of the leather.
It didn't come out as good as some of the custom work you see from the pros, but I can live with it. The color is slightly darker than the original, but it matches closely enough not to be a distraction.
I'm very happy with the quality of the kit. Everything fit perfectly; they obviously took apart Monty seats and made the patterns from the pieces.
Now on to the driver's side and rear bench. Hopefully it will go faster now that I know what I'm doing!

DirtDriver, the seat looks good! Are you slipping the leather over the existing seat material? Is there any sewing involved, or is it just a matter of slipping the leather onto the seat? Do you have to wait for them to make your kit, or do they have a variety in stock?
