I know there are a lot of write-ups out there on the taurus fan and how to instal it but I though I would throw this up as I think I did it in the most complex (and coolest ) way possible.
Here is my ghetto wiring diagram, I know is a pic of a drawing but thats all you get:
As you can see I can switch instantly between the high and low speeds thereby making full use of the fan on hot/cool days and keeping the power drain down. The switches are pretty straight forward one is a 2-way and the other is a on/off/on. I can with the 2-way switch the speeds and with the on/off/on switch between the control module and constant power so if for any reason the control module dies I can still use the fan. It was a little difficult to find an obscure yet accessable place to put the switches but I finally settled with right beside the steering collumn under the dash:
I also have it wired up to use relays for each speed, I did this for 2 reasons: 1. so I can instantly switch if needed and 2. so I have a margin of safety for the module as there is on constant high amperage draw on the module itself. I use a 70amp relay for the high speed and a common 30amp one for the slow. I found 30amp relays with harnesses for $6 so I baught 2 and used one harness for the 70amp so I can quick disconnect the relays if they fry. The 70amp was a little hard to find as none of the local parts stores had them but an auto electric specialty shop ordered one in for me, only $12. The relays are mounted just above the inner fender and the 70amp relay is the silver one:

I plan to move the module and the relays to between the grill and rad cradle to get the mess of wires out of the engine bay and keep the clutter under there to a minimum. But that will have to wait till summer as its too cold to solder out right now.
The fan itself is does require a little modification to properly fit and I had to trim it down a little so it was tighter to the rad and removed the bottom of the shroud and extended it about 4-6" down. Now it covers the whole rad quite nicely. I also had to add a flange on the passenger side to use all the stock bolt locations. Here you can kinda see the piece of shaped aluminum I used to cover the bottom of the rad. On a side note the aluminum I used was old body panneling from a modified dirt track race car, I swear that alone has given my truck an extra 10hp . http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c56/suprathepeg/extendedshroud.jpg
Here you can see that the fan just fits in there with the stock fan bracket and fan pulleys still in place. I removed the studs that usually hold the pulleys on and replaced them with bolts so it all fits. I am having my partner machine a spare fan bracket smooth for me so I can eliminate the pulleys all together which will open up a lot of room and remove one more part from under the hood .
Another side note is the fan motor itself seems to be a pretty common Ford part and is also found in many volvo cars as well. I baught a fan with a dead motor and found a replacement motor in a 1.9L escort. Here is a pic of the motor if you wanted to know what to look for:
This mod took care of my overheating at idle problems. I still get a little warm at highway speeds but it was a step in the right direction no doubt. In the city the low speed is more then enough in this weather, we'll see how it is in the summer. I really like this mod so far as it gives me increased control, opens up some space under the hood and it might even free up a couple ponies .

What control module are you using, and what does it do? From your diagram, the control module turns the fan on, and you're deciding with the 2-way switch whether it runs on high or low speed, correct? (It seems like the control module should connect to the "Auto" terminal of the 3-way switch, right?)
What temp sensor did you use and where'd you put it?

I'm using the hayden adjustable unit it seems OK. There are better options out there but this one is working alright for me. It has a probe you insert between the finns on the rad and is set to turn the fan on at 180 degrees. So basicly when the t-stat opens the fan turns on.

So I have since moved the relays to between the grill and the rad cradle and will mount the controler up there too. I just want to keep the engine bay clean.
A controler that uses the fluid in the radhose might be better then this rad probe too.

That is exactly what I have wanted for the past 2 years. I have mine hooked up the simple way on an adjustable Hayden controller.

do ya guys think a ford tempo e-fan would work too? or would that be too small (2.3L 4 banger)?

You need the taurus fan itself the motor could work though IDK. The taurus fan is larger then the one off the escort so it pulls more air.
