Ya....I agree something strange going on there...and responded to his other post on Yotatech. With one side all the way at the TOE and the other on the HEEL you'd think the BL was really wide or the gears were low grade GENUINE brand.....neither situation in this case. ZUK

IIRC in my yukon instal kit it says this if good to go but I'll have to check. Somehow I doubt it.

I know....read the same manual....still not a "healthy" pattern having the drive side on the end of the tooth ready to chip it off.

Pinion is solid and doesn't move at all that I can tell either side to side or in and out. The case is in there good with the caps off I tried shaking the diff up and down and the case didn't budge.

The only thing I can think of is that I have too much BL. Stock was 6.5 and now I have about 7.2 I can prolly tighten that up a bit to get it to 6.5 np with a slightly thicker washer. I looked at the yukon instal instructions again and it says what I have is fine, FWIW.

The gears look like they haven't even broken in and FWIW Rusty said they had seen little or no use so maybe this will be ok? Unless you think I should try and tighten up the BL I'm thinking I'll leave it?

Maybe try putting a bit more force on things to clear the pattern up. I use Zuk's "rag and wrench" trick and it works great. Kinda tough to tell but it looks like it could be a little deep but again tuff to tell from such a light pattern.

6.5 or 7.2 .....just splitting hairs there. Let it go and button it up. This is the front dif so it uses the coast side when going forward. Not that much of an issue when I think about it. Just make sure the CBPL is good and high. ZUK

How do I check the pre-load on the carrier?? With the shims in there now I have to smack it good 4-8 times with a hammer and 2x4.
