Just about all set for the trip. My friend called out sick on this one, so my truck will be 210 lbs lighter. This means I can put my water jugs and cooler up front and use the back for more ridiculously unnecessary things that don't belong on most camping trips, like a rake, drop light and hand-crank spreader. I still need the receiver mounted platform for the gas BBQ and propane deep-fryer, though, so those have to stay behind.

I do have a valid state land permit, by the way, and that probably puts us in the rarified strata of quasi-legal-ness.

Mr Feeder, I will call your cell phone when I get out of work and get home so we can arrange a meet-up spot to begin our journey.

How much was it, if you don't mind me asking. I know their starting price is usually pretty high.

Johnny and I just got back from Sibley Mansion. Nobody got hurt or anytthing. Johnny got stuck on a boulder, no, I mean a boulder got stuck on Johhny. He has pictures. I brought my friend George Dickel. Nothing but fun is to be had when he comes along . I think George tried to push me in the fire but I managed to dive instead of fall and came out unscathed. There was a cow that kept mocking us for some reason. He kept staring at me.

This trip was much easier since the 33's where installed. They made a huge difference!

Anyway, Johnny has lots of pictures.

A good time was had by all!

Return To Sibley Mansion [Re: BottomFeeder]
      #362745 - 10/05/03 09:52 PM

Yes, fun was had by all. George was good company on Saturday evening, but I missed out on seeing him try to push Rich into the fire. He's only about one foot tall, too, so I don't know how it could have happened; maybe the top wasn't screwed on right.

Anyway, let's get to the pictures. Ever see this happen?

A rock jumped up and pinned itself between the leaf spring on the driver's side and the frame. Really limits articulation. Luckily, the hi-lift, Rich and some pry bars got it out so I could resume conquering the rock pile I had to get strapped over last time. Then Rich just breezed through:

Ooh, those rocks are so big and scary! Not to worry, we're in Monteros!

That's Rich in front of what's left of the Copper Creek post office. It's only 100+ years old. Cheap construction, I guess.

There was some scenery, too. The next two shots show the "night lights" we both installed.

Enjoy!

John B.

Those lights sure did help since we got to the campsite at about 10:30 pm. They sure did not help in pointinbg us at the right trail to get to the camp site.
