Did a search and can't find it anywhere. How do you remove freeze plugs? Thanks for any help. Gary |

You take a punch and a BFH put the punch on one side or the other of the plug and knock the $hit out of it... It should getsideways in the hole and the "other side" should protrude. Then you get hold of the side sticking out and remove it.. If by chance it jumps into the block you start fishing.. I have been known to leave one inside an engine from time to time. Big Jim

an easy way to get the plug out once you have knocked it sideways is to grab it with water pump pliers (aka groove joint pliers, adjustable pliers) and leverage the plug out. how are you going to knock the new plug in? there are special tools made to drive the plug into the block. |

Well, I got them out by tapping one side of the plug then when it was sideways I grabbed it with a pair of needle nose vise grips. It came right out. Installing the new ones I just used a LFH (little **** hammer) and a socket to fit inside the plug. It worked fine and didn't distort it at all. Thanks, G |
