It's been a long time since I've seen any posts by Darin, but my recollection is that he's in the Silverdale-Port Orchard-Bremerton area.
It's civilized there so yeah, they will have things like indoor plumbing
, water/sewer service and your trash will be picked up.WA has no income tax so they get their money from you via alternate means. The state gets most of its tax revenue from retail sales taxes. With state & county together I think the combined rate in much of the state is in the 8.0 to 8.5% ballpark. No other state has a higher tax on gasoline than WA, and vehicle registration fees are kind of high. Gotta pay for roads somehow, but if she's looking to carpool she might not get hit too hard by these.
