Does anyone ever dim their dash lights? I can't think of any time that I have ever done it on anything I've ever driven.

Actually, yes. The times that I have a relatively long night drive, without a lot of ambient light around me, I will usually dim the lights to about half level or slightly lower in order to reduce the distraction and eye strain. A while back, I drove from Ohio to Gettysburgh, PA almost entirely after dark. After my eyes had adjusted, the gauges were plenty bright enough to see without being glaring. I didn't think I'd turned them down that much, but when I got back into the truck fresh the next night, I could barely see them at first.
