Does anyone ever dim their dash lights? I can't think of any time that I have ever done it on anything I've ever driven.

You can also find some LEDs with the current limiting resistor already inline. Radioshack had a few last time I was in there, but they were all red. You might check some place like www.partsexpress.com or a big electronics catalog like www.newark.com and they may have 12v ready parts in other colors.

You want to think about viewing angle some too, a lot of LEDs are set up to send out a beam and that might not work for some back lighting applications.
