That said, I'm not really sure what changed between the Gen1 and Gen2 six cylinder manuals.
You might also consider looking for a Montero Sport. They seemed to be a little more common. I have the chassis of one.
I know on the automatics the xfer shifter is on the drivers side whereas on the Gen I it's on the passenger. If the Gen II 5-speed xfer shifter is still on the passenger and trans shifter is on the driver it may allow me to use a different, more robust trans in my shorty. Pending bolt pattern similarities and spline counts.
