a stock non-turbo G54B will be fine at 9psi boost. just make sure you have enough fuel to keep it from detonating. my friend turbo'd his 1990 Isuzu pickup with the 2.6 engine. its not a mitsu 2.6 though. but it has been turbod for 12 years now, put on 250,000km since the upgrade...still runs strong and doesn't burn a drop of oil, the truck has 310,000km on it now.

non-turbo engines can handle decent boost...having the proper fuel is alot more critical, melting a piston can be easily done with no fuel upgrades.
