The Huntington Lake/Shaver Lake area of the Sierrra Mountain Range W. of Mammoth Mtn and E. of Fresno has some good places. I have hunted there in the past and saw more area on foot than 4 wheels, but there are many posted and maintained heep trails around there. I always wanted to get back there to check them out. Also great place to bring the family as there is lots of fishing, boating, camping nearby. Many lakes in the area. Don't ask me to lead though, as I said, no experience on the 4wd trails. I can't find my copies right now, but I know the trails are shown on the topo maps of the area.
