Everyone needs a little extra ground clearance and what better way than a simple shock mount relocation?
Spring lifts provide a combination of ground clearance and space for axle/tire articulation to accommodate travel over rough terrain. However, the spring pack hanging below the axle has always been a problem to overcome.
The solution evolved into spring over axle conversions. While it does move the bulky spring pack out of the rock way, it still leaves some residual low hanging points; the shock mounts connected to the axle. A simple relocation of the shock mount can gain 2-3 inches of clearance by moving the lower mounting bracket higher on the axle.
There are universal tabs that can be welded in position or, enter Rubicon Express with their heavy duty mounting bracket. The RE bracket is a welded to the axle and provides a sturdy mount point for the shock where the bolt is up safe from contact with rocks.
The pictures display the stock mount location (before) and the Rubicon Express shock mount location (after).
