2009 TDS Desert Safari Scheduled

History;
Tierra Del Sol Four Wheel Drive Club of San Diego has produced and hosted the Desert Safari for almost 50 years. For most of those years, the Safari has been held at Truckhaven, which is just west of Salton City, CA.  Those of you who have been fortunate enough to join us for previous Desert Safaris’ know that the area is very unique, offers challenges for all experience levels of four wheeling and has become part of our wheelin’ family!

Due to land ownership changes and environmental issues, Truckhaven has been closed to organized events and TDS was forced to move Safari in 2007 and 2008 to Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area.

Our Current Location;
Tierra Del Sol has been working very hard to bring the Desert Safari back to Truckhaven. This year is no different. The outlook is better than ever, so please keep your fingers crossed. You can help TDS get Safari back to Truckhaven!

If we have no choice, our back-up plan will be to use the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area. If TDS holds the Safari at Ocotillo Wells., we will have more Truckhaven style trails! TDS is looking into more rock gardens! (We know that the trail is as important to you as it is to us)!

With that said, wherever TDS holds Safari, we will still need your support! Our event raises funds to help keep the lands where we recreate open, and helps us get back Truckhaven!

How You Can Help;
1) Keep checking this web site (www.tds4x4.com). TDS will soon be asking our faithful participants to give your positive comments to the state. TDS will let you know when!
2) Register and attend The 47th Annual Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari to be held the first weekend in March 2009!
