Area of floodingThe Michigan Department of Natural Resources recently announced that, effective immediately, Gularski Road in Cheboygan County and all concurrent designated trails are closed until the drainage issue effectively can be addressed. The area is located southwest of Indian River.

Snowmobile Trail #7, Indian River ORV Route, Tomahawk A Loop ORV Trail and the Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail converge and are co-located on Gularski Road, a seasonal Cheboygan County road.

"An area over a football field long and 12 inches to 18 inches deep has flooded the area, with no nearby high ground," said DNR forest fire officer Nate Stearns. "The flooded area continues to spread with any new rainfall. The DNR is working in partnership with the Cheboygan County Road Commission to assess the area and identify appropriate corrective action."

To bypass the area, the trails have temporarily been rerouted onto Wildwood and Wingate roads. The DNR asks that riders respect the closures and stay on the signed, designated trails or open county roads. All trail types have been blocked as indicated with black dashes on the map (available below).
