VORRA Series Adds Ultra4 Class with 2011 King of the Hammers Qualifying Spot

RENO, NV,   MARCH 11, 2010:   VORRA Series Promoter Wes Harbor is proud to announce the addition of an Ultra4 Class to the well known West coast series. With the commitment from Ultra4 class promoters Dave Cole and Jeff Knoll, the VORRA Ultra4 Class winner will earn a starting position in the 2011 King of the Hammers.  “We feel that we have a good series where this style of vehicle can excel,” says Harbor. “We are excited to have the addition of a new class, and we hope that all the Ultra4 cars will come out to qualify for the King of the Hammers.”

Three Ultra4 cars competed in last years series.  Kevin Yoder took the 2009 Sportsman Class win, with Tom Wayes and Jesse Haines coming out to compete in a couple of rounds.  “I am excited to have more Ultra4 cars to compete against this year.  I hope everyone comes out to give this series a try, they are great races and it is a lot of good family fun too,” said Yoder.

VORRA is a seven round series that includes four short course races at the Prairie City OHV area in Folsom, CA and three desert races in Northern Nevada.  Ultra4 drivers are responsible for the same fees as other classes, including a $55 VORRA membership fee and the extremely reasonable entry fees of $275 per short course race and $475 per desert race.  To qualify for the entry into the 2011 King of the Hammers, drivers also need to be Ultra4 members.

The VORRA series pays out considerably well especially as more vehicles participate in the class.  For example, if three vehicles participate in a desert race, the winner takes home $600.  The equation is Class size divided by 3+ determines the number of paid finishing spots therefore, 4 participants pays to 2nd and 7 pays to 3rd and so on.  There is also a Series Champion fund which is created by allocating $20 of each entry fee all year, which can add up to be a considerable amount.

All Ultra4 cars can compete for the VORRA Season Championship, but the 2011 King of the Hammers spot will be given to the first driver not already previously qualified via finishing position in the 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers.

Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) was established in 1975 as a family-oriented organization and is led by current promoter Wes Harbor who believes that “off road racing has its roots in people’s garages”.  VORRA is the only organization to offer both four short course races and three desert races as part of its overall season championship.  Each race draws over 60 racers between multiple classes available for Cars, Trucks, Pilots, ATV, UTV and Trophy Karts.  In 2010 VORRA has added two additional truck classes and a stand alone ATV Race Series.  More information can be found at www.vorra.net
