BEAUMONT, CA, JUNE 27, 2009: Scholte Motor Sports (SMS) is proud to announce their commitment to race the Best in the Desert’s “Vegas to Reno – the Long Way.” The team, which races in the Jeep Speed class, is excited to participate in this legendary off-road event. SMS will be introducing their all-girl team for this event to raise awareness and money for breast cancer. The SMS girls, Shari Tatman-Scholte and Charlene Bower, will be serving as Ambassadors for the Love/Avon Army of Women at the BITD race and all promotional events surrounding it. The SMS Team is seeking sponsors for a Mile-A-Thon to raise money for the Army of Women. They are also asking women to become “one in a million” by registering to join the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation’s movement to eradicate breast cancer once and for all. “I’m really excited about the race,” says Shari Scholte, driver of record. “I never pictured myself driving a race car, but I’m motivated by my own experience with cancer and a desire to help other families dealing with it. The Army of Women is an amazing program to collect data and research so that, hopefully, one day my daughter and other girls like her will be safe from this horrible disease.” ****** About Scholte Motor Sports ~ The team is involved in off-road racing with a purpose – to beat the competition and breast cancer. Every member of the team, from the drivers to the crew, is united in their effort to cross the finish line and bring awareness to young women that breast cancer can be beaten if it is detected early.
