OFF-ROAD FEES: Where do they go?

On Thursday, August 24th, the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area (ISDRA) Technical Review Team (TRT) met at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) office in El Centro. The TRT is composed of volunteers from the off-road community and includes members of The San Diego Off-Road Coalition (SDORC), The California Off-Road Vehicle Association (CORVA), CAL 4-Wheel Drive, The American Motorcyclists Association (AMA), the American Sand Association (ASA), and the BLM Desert District Advisory Council (DAC). Their function is to advise the BLM on the expenditure of theTalk About It in the ORN Trail Talk Forums user fees collected at the ISDRA.

A request made of the BLM by the TRT was to provide the TRT with a breakdown of how user fees collected at the ISDRA for the year 2000 have actually been spent. The El Centro BLM office responded with a report showing how user fees collected for ISDRA use and Green Sticker grant funds to the El Centro BLM office have been spent to support the operation of the ISDRA. The following is a summary of these funds have been expended for the year 2000:
