Off-Road for Hope III

In its third year, Off-Road for Hope III, February 2-4, 2001, is expected to draw over 800 off-road vehicles (4x4s, motorcycles, ATVs, buggies and bajas), 2,000 participants and will offer trails and runs from the novice to the experienced off-road enthusiasts.

All the funds raised during these three days of runs, fun and games for all off-highway vehicles benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event is based out of the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area, Ocotillo Wells, CA (approx. 18 miles east of Julian on Hwy. 78).

Off-Road for Hope II drew over 650 vehicles, 1,500 participants and raised $46,000 for MDA.

Off-Road for Hope is sponsored and organized by the California Association of Four-Wheel Drive Clubs, San Diego Off-Road Coalition, Los Pretot's Desert Club and California Off-Road Vhicle Association.

Local San Diego clubs including Tierra del Sol 4WDC, San Diego 4 Wheelers, San Diego Outbacks, On the Edge 4WDC and Geared for Fun are slated to lead runs for modified and stock 4x4s and sport utility vehicles.

San Diego Off-Road Coalition is organizing and leading the 120 mile Dual Sport Motorcyle Run through Anza Borrego Desert State Park and the Ocotillo Wells SVRA. Ride departs Saturday morning and is limited to the first 100 bikes registered.

Los Pretot's Desert Club will again have their specially designed and extremely unique Desert Round Up for buggies, dirt bikes, ATVs and Bajas.

Registration is $35 for multi-seat vehicles, $15 for single seat vehicles ($5 under 17), and $30 for the dual sport motorcycle run (includes lunch and roll map). Meals and t-shirts may also be ordered.

Print out the on-line registration form, or call MDA at 858-492-9792 for more information and a packet.
