Onboard Air System

UPDATE!!!:

I have finally obtained an AC compressor that I will use on my onboard air system.   My roomate is an A&P mechanic and was able to get a compressor from one of the planes at work (Beech 1900 - PT6 Turboprop).  The compressor was replaced on the plane because the intake port (low pressure side) was cracked at the top.  This compressor is a 5 piston rotary with an internal oiling system which emiminates the need to supply oil to the compressor to keep it from locking up.

The picture below shows the internals of the compressor. I had to remove the "head" to get the pieces out of the intake port out.

I have found the following at a mail order surplus store:

  • 2.3 gallon aluminum tank - $21.95
  • Adjustable pressure switch - $16.00
  • Regulator - $22.00
  • In-line filter - $23.00
  • Misc fittings - $10.00
  • 50ft 250PSI working, 1000PSI burst hose - $19.00
