25  Ron Barton & Jeremy Barton -1982 Jeep Scrambler
Ron and Jeremy, from South Carolina, had a great showing in Farmington, NM last year, entering the second day of competition in fourth place. Their Scrambler has Detroits front and rear, and runs 38x12.5x15 tires. The engine is out of an '89 corvette and is mated to a turbo 350 tranny. The whole package is finalized by the XD9000i Warn winch for safety and recovery.
75  Jeff Beach & Dave Coonradt -1975 Jeep CJ-5
Jeff and Tammy are the owners of Beach's Off-Road Specialists with both working heavily in fabrication and suspension modification. The only original part left on Jeff's Jeep is the frame and it's been seriously reinforced. Power comes from a fuel-injected Chevy 350, with a 700R tranny and Dana 300 transfer case. The front end is coiled with an ARB'd Dana 44 and a ¼ elliptic reverse-cut Dana 60 Detroit rear. Jeff knows what it means to roll, so his rig is equipped with a 24-point roll cage. Sound good? It's for sale.
47  Don Bernier & Robert McMahan -1976 Jeep CJ-7
Don is a Contractor in Parker, CO, while Robert is a Lieutenant with the Douglas County Sheriff's office and also serves on the SWAT team. A TBI 350, SM465 with Atlas II 4.3:1 power this rig with Dana 44's front and rear, Detroit lockers and 4.10 gears. The rig has custom-cut sidebars with rock sliders, a Warn HS9500, 35x15x14.5 SSR Swampers on Centerline bead-locked rims, and Skyjacker/Warn suspension. Autometer gauges, long slip joint drive shafts, rotated transfer case, K&N Filter Charger, dual Optimas, and RCI seats and belts round out this custom-built rig.

Jack's rig has a 500ci fuel-injected Caddy engine with a TH400 tranny, giving him a first gear of 3:0. The spring over and 4.88 gears with locked Dana 44s ensure trail passage. The 38x11x15 Boggers provide traction.

As Team Fort Collins 4x4, Mike and Dan are sponsored by Carquest Auto Parts, Extreme4x4.com, Norrmandin Landscape, and Little Guys Movers. The Jeep is set up with a built AMC 304, Holley Projection, K&N Air filter, dual Carquest batteries, Butch Brooks custom-built front high-pinion Dana 44 with 5.13 gear and ARB, and Butch Brooks custom-built rear high-pinion Dana 60 with 5.13 gears and Detroit, Dana 3-transfer case with Currie twin stick shifter, Ford T-18 tranny, Rancho 9000's, custom-designed suspension by Fort Collins 4x4 utilizing Alcan springs with axle offset yielding 101" of wheel base, revolver shackles help provide needed articulation. 38  Bodin Breinholt & Stuart Breinholt -1971 Ford Bronco
Bodin is the Manager of Absolute Collision Repair in Smithfield, UT and also a student at Utah State University majoring in Business Management. Stuart, a.k.a. "Bodin's Dad," is the Manager of Medicine Lodge Ranch. Bodin appreciates the support of his parents and looks forward to future competitions. The '71 Bronco is equipped with a TPI 350, and a turbo 400 tranny mated to an Atlas II transfer case. The Dana 60's contain a rear Detroit locker and front ARB, both supported by 38x15x16.5 Super Swamper Radials with 4-wheel disc brakes by Advanced 4-WD. Plenty of power is available through Tom Wood's driveshafts. The Bronco also sports a Skyjacker leaf spring front end with custom suspension work by Mt. Logan Off-Road, and DJ's traction bars are used on the rear to prevent axle wrap. Mike Mitchell fabricated the custom 6-point roll cage. Superwinch S-9000, Beard seats, dual Optima batteries, dual electric fans, hydraulic steering and HPC block-hugger headers top off the Bronco.
103  RJ Brown & Joe Brown -1983-85 Jeep CJ-7
The New Mexico brothers have built themselves a nice rig with 14.5 Swamper SSRs, 5.38 gears, a full size 8 lug Corp 10 bolt front, and a Dana 60 8 lug full size rear. Drop zone arms, a fuel-injected 350, turbo 400/205 transfer case, bead-locked rims, Griffin radiator, full cage, fuel cell, 100" wheel base, diamond plate sides, front body extended 3.5", custom hood, Navajo brakes, and Autometer gauges. The Jeep was donated by Harold Off of Off Again Off-Road, NM, and the paint donated by Touch of Class. Wiring was done by Jim Rooker. Off Again also donated the brake booster. S&S Powder did the powder coating. These boys were judges for the ARCA Farmington event last year. Napa sponsored their new Gel filled battery.
104  Jim Cagle & Kevin Hawkins -1985 Jeep CJ-7
Jim began his off-road career drag racing and motorcycle racing (both road and dirt). He is currently employed by BMW of North America as a Market Manager in LA. Kevin has a strong background in off-road racing and owns a construction company in Salt Lake. He enjoys off-road fabrication and is a very experienced 4-wheeler and rock crawler. The rig is sponsored by Conejo Off-Road of Thousand Oaks, CA, and has a modified CJ-7 frame, 1990 Corvette engine, 700R4 tranny, Dana 300 transfer case, Dana 44 front axle, reverse-cut Dana 60 rear (both with Detroit lockers), Warn winch, and Goodyear/Swamper tires.

105  Nolan Chadwick & Gary Chadwick -1982 Jeep CJ-7
Nolan and Gary work in the family masonry business when they're not out cruising the trails. Their Utah Jeep has Detroit lockers front and rear packed inside two Dana 44 axles with Dunlop 35x12.5 Mud Rovers. It is powered by a fuel-injected Chevy 350. This father-and-son team is just out to have a good time. Dana 300 transfer with belly up, with Chevy 700R4, 4.88 gears, full cage, rock bars, Ramsey Pro 9000, Rancho RS9000, and 4" ProComp lift.
41  Charlie Copsey & Shannon Shirk -1978 Jeep CJ-7
Charlie has modified his rig so much that it isn't recognizable as the same rig on his title. He replaced the frame and suspension with one from a '98 TJ. He added a Teraflex lift and swapped in a 383 Chevy L98 TPI engine. The 700R4 tranny and Dana 300 transfer case, along with the Warn heavy-duty front axle shafts, really beef up this rig. The shafts are encased by a Lock Right Dana 44 front and Detroit Dana 60 rear both with 4.56 gears. Charlie's sponsors include Mepco, Warn, Goodyear, United Auto Body, and Teraflex.
106  Dale Deatherage & Sean Perkins -1969 Jeepster Commando
This Commando has a Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear with 5.38 gears. Its power comes from a Holley-injected 400 de-stroked to a 383. The Dana 300 transfer case and 425 tranny really turn the Bogger 35x15x16 tires.

24  Dan Dunaway & Jerry Steele -1989 Toyota Pickup
Dan moved to Arizona from New Mexico a few years ago. Having always been an avid wheeler, the move only expanded his trail availability. His truck is equipped with Detroit lockers front and rear with 5.29 gears, a Marlin 4.7 transfer case, a Ramsey winch and 12.5x35" Goodyear MTRs. Dan's done a front axle conversion and runs All Pro nerf bars, cross member, and shock hoops. He bought this truck in 1989 as a roll over. By the time he made all the modifications he had about $6,000 invested. The modifications obviously worked for him as he prove in Farmington, NM with a Second Place finish.
36  Chris "Trigger" Durham & Kevin "Moose" Nalley -1985 Jeep CJ-10
Chris, co-owner of Foothills 4x4 with Ken Shupe and Chris Sonen, in South Carolina, believes in building, not buying off-road rigs. Farmington proved his point in both rockcrawling and speedy repair times. He and his spotter replaced both sides of an axle shaft, at the same time, and still completed the course with time to spare. Knowing his rig gave him a big advantage. His blue and black tiger-striped CJ-10 may be one of the most unique Jeep in the US. His CJ-10 is fully trail-ready with a 401 AMC engine with B&M stall converter, 205 transfer case with custom flat bottom adapter, front high-pinion Dana 60 and rear Dana 70, both with Detroit lockers supported by Hummer wheels and 38x12.5x16.5 (front) and 38x15.5x15.5 (rear) Swampers.
56  Randy Ellis & Spotter -1986 Suzuki Samurai
Randy has two rigs for competition - a CJ2A and a Samurai. For this tight course, he selected the Sammy, which has Dana 44s front and rear, ARBs, and pushes 36" TSL SX Swampers. It has a custom suspension and a very low ride height.
108  Walker Evans & Spotter -2000 Chevy Blazer
This Chevy Blazer is a brand new rock crawler. Phoenix is Walker's first rock crawl championship. Goodyear Tire is his major sponsor. Married to Phyllis with 4 children, he resides in CA and has been racing for over 31 years with 140 career victories and 20 championship titles. The "Legendary" Walker Evans was the first driver in off-road racing history to win the famed Baja 1000 in 1979 and the Fireworks 250 in 1982 overall behind the wheel of a full-sized truck. He has amassed titles in every short-course racing class he's entered including the four-wheel-drive division, and is one of the most accomplished competitors in the sport of off-road racing.

Ken's claim to fame began with his incredible feats in his late Suzuki Samurai. Since then he has pounded the rocks in his YJ and now in his Toyota. His sponsors, Goodyear, Warn, and All-Pro Off-Road, have helped him build this rig by adding soft Detroits front and rear, 5.29 gears, a flatbed, spring under in rear, custom Zuk-proof bumpers, nerfs, double transfer cases (one with 4.:1 gears), and 35" MTRs.
52  John Gilleland & Spotter -1962/2000 Jeep Willys
John has been a recreational off-roader for 17 years. He works in the Sand & Gravel industry and is the owner of Hummer Extreme Adventure Tours in Durango, CO. He is married and has 3 children under the age of 4. In his abundant free time, he designed his new rock crawler. Avalanche Engineering made the custom frame and suspension. The Willys' drivetrains consists of a 224ci motor feeding a 400 turbo tranny and an Atlas transfer case, with Dana 60 reverse-cut rear and Dana 44 reverse-cut front, both with ARBs. The suspension is a reverse wishbone with outer links and coil-over sway-away shocks. The tires are 38.5x14.5x15 TSL Super Swampers on bead-locked wheels.
27  Brandon Gillen & Spotter -1991 Jeep YJ
Brandon's sponsors include his employer, Teraflex, as well as Interco Tire, Ramsey Winch, BesTop, Mepco Jeep, Specialty Finishes, Gaylon's Drivelines, and Premiere Power Welder. He runs a front Dana 30 with LockRight, rear Dana 44 with Detroit, and 35" SSRs. The TeraLow 4:1 transfer case with TeraLow short shaft and 2Low kit, and the TeraFlex springs and control arms, give this rig an amazing crawling and articulating ability.
71  Pat Gremillion & Chip Monk -1971 Ford Bronco Sport
Pat and Jan have been married almost 36 years with the last 25 years spent working side-by-side. As best friends, they have built the Pull-Pal and Premiere Power welder businesses, been involved in numerous off-road events, supported public access to public land, and sponsored various 4x4 clubs and associations. Located in Carbondale, Colorado, both Pat and Jan know the meaning of 4-wheeling and rock crawling. Their Bronco runs an '88 Mustang 302 5-liter engine, C4 tranny with ArtCar low gear set 2:7:2, 850 stall-speed torque converter, and a 4.3 Atlas t-case with twin stick by Advanced Adapters. The front high-pinion diff from a '78 Ford F350 and rear '78 F250 Dana 60 have 4.10 ring & pinion with 3.5" over stock coils. The rear is 3-linked while the front is pan hard. Steering is custom with AGR pump and box, and the wheels are customized military Hummer wheels with dual bead-locked run-flat rims. The Bronco's body was narrowed 8", with its rear chopped 4". Pat's spotter, Chip Monk, is an accomplished 'wheeler in his own right, who competed and did well driving his one rig in the Farmington, NM event.
40  Mike Harmuth & Tim Donaldson -1960 Jeep CJ-5
This California CJ sits on 35" Super Swamper tires and Warn's Black Diamond suspension. The 350 Chevy with Holley Projection and NV4500 tranny with Atlas II really power the Detroit locker-filled Dana 44s. Mike's low range runs about 133:1.
26  Curt Hildebrand & Mark Shugart -1994 Jeep YJ
These Casper, Wyoming boys are ready to rock. Their YJ has a Revolver Shackle suspension with Rubicon Express springs, and Revolver z-box pivots on the fixed end of the springs. Gas-pressured moving front shock towers with a stock drivetrain and TeraLow 4:1 power the front Dana 30 and rear Dana 35, both with LockRights. The rear axle shafts have been replaced with a set of full-floating Warn axles.
55  Rich Hudson & Steve Jones -1983 Jeep CJ-7
Rich has been a fast food restaurant owner for 15 years in Omaha, NE and has been 4-wheeling for about 18 years. He's been traveling extensively to off-road events for the last decade. He started wheeling with Steve about 8 years ago at the Dakota Challenge. Steve is the President of the South Dakota 4WD Club and has been leading his club and their events for the past 9 years. Steve has his own Jeep CJ-7 that is untouchable in the Dakota area. The CJ-7 has Currie's High-pinion front and rear axles with both running Detroits. Super Swamper's TSI-SX 38x12.5 and Goodyear's MTR 38x12.5 grab the Champion bead-locked wheels, while the 5.0L Chevy TPI, with AGR power steering box push this rig over the toughest terrain. Ron and Ed are from Arizona. Their Cherokee has been lifted 6", and runs Dana 44s with a front Detroit EZ locker, 4.11 gears, AMC 360, 727 auto tranny, Dana 300 transfer case, 35x12.5 Big O MT tires, and 33" Rancho 9000 shocks. For extraction the rig has a mounted Warn 9000 winch.
111  Gary Jacobson & Jake Jacobson -1986 Jeep CJ-7
Hailing from Springville and Erda, Utah, this team is used to rough terrain. Their CJ-7 has plenty of muscle with the TPI 350, 700R4 tranny, 4.56-geared front Dana 44 and rear Model 20, both locked with ARBs. Other modifications include the 4" Superlift with 2" of body lift, JKS drag link and tie rod, and a Warn 9000 winch.
112  Tracy Jordan & William Bonney -1971 Toyota FJ40
Sponsored by Renegade Fabrication and Man-A-Fre, this Arizona rig is powerful. Sitting on 38" Super Swamper SXs, the ARB front- and rear-locked 4.88 axles are pushed by a 383 Stroker feeding a 420 Muncie tranny. The rig also has a full cage and body guards.

David came prepared with Detroit-locked Dana axles and mud terrain tires. He's thinking 44" mudders, but may settle for 36".
114  Dave Laws & Matt Hornback -1988 Jeep YJ
Dave is a Mechanical Engineer, married with 4 children, and loves the outdoors. Matt is the owner of Rocky Mountain 4x4 in Orem, UT, and is married with one son. Dave and Matt participated in the Farmington event of ARCA but with reversed roles. Matt was the driver and Dave was the spotter for the big purple full size Dodge Ramcharger. Their Jeep has a 258 I-6 with Mopar MPI kit, 4.0 HO head ported and polished, Borla header, Flowmaster exhaust. The drivetrain includes Dana 44s front and rear with 4.56 gears and ARBs, rear discs, and a TeraLow-geared 4:1 transfer case. Rims and tires are 35x12.5x15 MRT bead-locked SSRs. 34  Ian Liljeblad & Eric Filar -1979 Jeep CJ-7
With 1/4 elliptic springs front and rear, Ian's Willys should shine in the articulation light. Ian built the custom spring setup to allow for 35" tires. He runs a Chevy 350 driven Turbo 400. An Atlas II completes his driveline. In case his ARB locked axles stumble, he has a Warn 8274 to save the day. Ian placed in the Top 12 in Farmington!

With Detroit lockers front and rear, running a Dana front and a 12-bolt rear, this FJ is well-modified. With a fuel-injected Chevy 350, Dana 300 with 4:1 kit, and 420 tranny, it's been geared to 4.88 and has a heavy duty Warn front axle and a full-floating axle kit in the rear. Farmington,NM is where Harold calls home. He's the owner of Off Again Off-Road and knows just what a rig needs to make it trail ready. Harold's Scrambler has a swapped Warn coil conversion suspension, 38" tires and a 401 AMC engine with Currie-built axles. Of course he has a Warn winch mounted and ready to go.

With reverse-cut front and rear Detroit-locked Dana 60 axles and Fox coil-over suspension, this Colorado rig has strength. Its Chevy 4.3L V-6 modifications include Bow-tie aluminum heads, full roller rockers, hypereutectic pistons, MSD, and Holley 390. The Turbo 350, Atlas II 4.3 transfer case, AGR steering box, Tilton brake pedal and master cylinder assembly, Palmer driveshafts, PIAA lights, and Warn XD9000I winch are just some of the modifications.

Jason owns Twisted Customs, in Rapid City, SD, and does custom airbrush and fabrication work on all types of vehicles. Travis is a college student attending Black Hills State. Their CJ-7 has a Dana 44 front with ARB and a Dana 60 rear with ARB, both running 4.88 gears with the bottom of the 60 sheared off for ground clearance. The suspension is a spring over (SOA) with shackle-reversal running dual Rancho 9000s. The rear springs are a custom-cut length and frenched into the frame. An AGR steering box and pump insures drivability while the custom 8 point roll cage and full body armor keep the body from getting crunched on the rocks. Joe's spring over with JB Conversion tailshaft kit, Tom Wood driveshafts, Warn axle shafts, Atlas II 3.8, Dana 30 front axle, and high-pinion 9" rear axle are just some of the modifications his rig has experienced. A full cage, Premiere Power Welder, Stage West rockers and bumpers, and 36x12.5x15 TSLs complete the picture.
30  Ken Shupe & Chris Sonen -1997 Jeep TJ
Ken is married to Angela and has one son. Ken enjoys working with his partners Chris Sonen and Chris Durham at their shops in South Carolina. They recently acquired a second shop and now Foothills 4x4 covers the 4-wheeling needs of Western NC, Upstate SC, and Northeast Georgia. After his rollover in ARCA's Farmington event, Ken had to scrap his Scrambler. His new rig is a TJ 4.0L Auto with JB Conversion's 2-lo and slip yoke kit, Hanson's front and rear bumpers and rocker skids, Warn's HS 9500I winch, a custom full roll cage, aluminum bead-locked wheels with 35" Goodyear MTRs. His rear Dana 44 (donated from a Honda Passport) runs 4.30 gears with Detroit locker and disc brakes. His front Dana 44 (from a 1981 Jeep truck) has been narrowed 4" on the long side with Warn inner shafts and hubs. It runs 4.30 gears and Detroit's Gearless locker. Rubicon Express' 4.5" lift completes his rig.
32  Garrett Sisson & Matt Sisson -1994 Jeep YJ
Brothers Garrett and Matt, from New Mexico, are out to have a blast. Garrett, married 7 years with 2 children, and Matt, single working for United Rental, have built a pretty sweet YJ. It's an automatic 4.0L loaded with goodies such as Currie's high-pinion rear 9" diff with 4.11 gears and a Detroit locker, front ARB packed into the stock Dana 30 axle with 4:11 gears, TeraLow 231 4:1 conversion kit and JB Conversion's NP231 HD fixed yoke kit, a rear drive line from Off-Again Off-road, custom front and rear bumpers, nerf bars, Xenon fender flares, Optima battery, and windbreaker top and doors by Rock Gear. The lift is a 4" from ProComp with Rancho RS9000 shocks and Currie's greasable shackles. The brothers are running Goodyear Wrangler MTRs 35x12.5 with a 1" body lift from Mountain Off-road Enterprises and a 12,000-pound Warn winch.
21  JP Snider & Rick Webster -1993 Jeep YJ
Stage West sponsors this rig with a Dana 30R front axle and rear Dana 44 with full-floating shafts, both with Detroits. Warn's Black Diamond XCL suspension, and Warn 9000-pound winch complete the gear running on top of Super Swamper SSR 35x14.5x15 tires.
123  Larry Trim & Dave Cosner -1981 Jeep CJ-7
Larry is married with 3 children. He's the General Manager of a fabrication shop and says his first car was a Jeep. Dave, a mechanical wizard, is single, 30-something, and lives with his parents so that he can spend all of his money on off-road rigs. Trailready.com and 4x4play.com sponsor the Jeep. It has a Chevy 305, NP435, Dana 300, with a Currie front axle and a model 20 rear containing Warn's full-floating axles. Both have a Detroit locker and run 4.56 gearing. 35" tires with bead-locked wheels and long-travel leaf springs, stopped by four-wheel disc brakes and four-wheel linelock complete his suspension. 35  Dana Verdoorn & Eric Bills -1977 Ford Bronco
These Colorado boys are ready to show off their Warn sponsored Bronco, again! The fuel-injected 5.0L, with aluminum heads, NP435 tranny, and Atlas transfer case give power to the reverse-rotation Dana 44 front containing Warn axles and ARB, and the 31 spline 9" rear with Detroit locker. It has a custom long-travel suspension with 36x12.5 TSL SX Swampers. To quote Dana, "Don't be a sheep in a Jeep!"
62  Jeff Waggoner & John Currie -1998 Jeep TJ
This TJ was built and prepped by Currie Enterprises. It has a Johnny Joint suspension set-up, Anti-rock sway bar front and rear, Detroit-locked Currie high-pinion 9" front and rear axles, Goodyear MTR tires, Currie rock sliders, Currie bumpers, and many other trick Currie Enterprise parts. Sponsors include Currie, Goodyear, Warn, Ramsey, BesTop, JB Conversions, Detroit Locker, Centerline, Trac-Tec, and Tom Wood's Custom Drive Lines.
124  Sean Whittaker & Terry Howe -1972 Chevy Blazer
This rig, comes from Colorado with a Dana 44 Trac-Locked front axle and a Corporate 14 bolt rear with Detroit. The power comes from a Chevy 350, with a turbo350 and a 205 transfer case, all on top of Super Swamper 36x12.5x16.5 tires.
46  Gene Wilson & Bud Harris -1976 Jeep CJ-7
Gene's Cycle & Mower Sales and Del City Pickup Parts are sponsors for this Oklahoma rig. It has ARB-locked front and rear Dana 44s running 36x14.5x15 Swampers. Gene says, "It's red and I spend a lot of money on it. It's always under construction."
125  Jeff Wood & Wes Rintelen -1960 Jeep CJ-5
Sponsored by Utah's Wood's Offroad and Shell Oil, this Jeep is modified! The front axle has been moved forward 7 inches while the rear was moved back for a total wheelbase of 90 inches. The front axle is a narrowed Dana 44 with Warn shafts and hubs, ARB, and 5.89 gears, spring over, with all steering rods over the springs. Dual shocks, Scout II power steering, and twin-slip drive shaft are some of the additional goods. The rear axle is a Dana 44 with a LockRight. The engine is a Cummins Turbo Diesel 4-BT with 105HP and 325 foot pounds of torque. The onboard air compressor and power steering pump are from Gear Drive. The tranny is the old SM-420 with the 7:1+ first gear and a Dana 18 transfer case. This combo with the 5.89 gears yields about 101:1. Jeff has an onboard welder and air, Jaz seats, Pyrotect 5-point harnesses, KC lights, under-body night lights, S&W dash gauges, and a 6-point roll cage all supported by 35x12.5 Kumho Mud tires. The Warn M10,000-pound winch tops off this Las Cruces-cruising rig.
