Avalanche Ranch Rock Racing 2
These few competitors have made their mark on the dawning of a new era for motorsports. Rock Racing is a new revision of competitive 4-wheeling.  In Rock Racing ™ there are no cones, no judges counting 1-1000 –2-1000, no back up penalties, no winch penalties and no vehicle restrictions (other than basic safety).  The only boundary rule is to stay on the trail as marked by banner tape, crossing the boundary leads to a time penalty. Otherwise it is speed to get to the finish line in the best time. Sounds like extreme trail riding with speed thrown in for fun.

Avalanche Ranch Rock Racing
Remember when Ned Bacon of Four Wheeler Magazine wrote that competitions aren't anything like old-fashioned trail riding, and should be called rock racing? Boy, that was so wrong -- he chould have called what those events Rock-Clogging or simply Roll-Fests. The event rules on highly skilled drivers and how they build their machines have slowed the action down... without the rollovers, watching competitors run one short section of trail again and again can get pretty boring. Sometimes the rolls are the only real action!

  • The Rock Crawlers Association of America (RCAA) creates one standard unifying the sport of Rock Crawling across the nation. The new rules will be used in Calrocs, NARRCA, RCRC Regional Championships as well as RCCA's National series. The official 2003 rules were posted on the Internet December 5. The biggest change was the addition of two new classes making a total of three classes available under RCAA's sanctioning body. Check out the press release here or download the 2003 Rulebook in pdf format here.  Note, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the 2003 Rulebook.
